This turned out to be a poor product. Cheaply made, it is difficult to ignite and has a very limited capacity for butane storage, which means one is contantly refilling it. It has tiny plastic levers supposedly to prevent accidental ignition, but they just sort of flip back and forth loosely, failing to make a positive lock. This thing is junk.

At a glance this seems like a good deal, but it's all an illusion. Words cannot express how tiny the dishes are, they're only good for 3, maybe 4 small bites. Each dish would hold about 1 large egg if you cracked it and poured it into the dish. So now that the dishes are worthless, the question is, would you pay $30 for just the torch? No!!! This is a poor quality torch with lots of drawbacks. For $30 or less you can get a PROFESSIONAL torch. In short, DO NOT BUY THIS SET.

We found the photos used to display these two items were deceptive. If you expect nice fluted dishes similar to what a French restaurant uses for creme brûlée, these will disappoint you. The text does say 4 ounces upon careful reading, but the photos look like something more substantial. The torch device is lightweight, insubstantial. I am certain it would take eons to prepare topping for one dish, much less 4 or 6, but we did not bother to try it, since the one we were replacing was equally slight.
We returned these items ASAP to Amazon for refund.

The ramekins are what one might expect for Crème Brulee individual servings. The torch is lightweight and does the job but it is difficult to manage with the safety switch. I am certain there must be some safety ruling that requires it. It just is a little awkward to hold and try to use.

I found that this product was leaking and I was unable to return it because it was full of propane gas! When I tried to use it, the flame was too short and I ended up burning the food that I was trying to carmelize. I ended up using the broiler of my oven, which I already had and did not have to buy! The dishes were nice but the "main event" (the burner) was disappointing.

Once filled and lit - good flame and works well.

However, the major drawbacks are
- really shoddy ignition - spotty at best - it'll be a click, click, click experience to light
- difficult to fill - poorly sized filler orifice?
- annoying safety catch to ignite - which I "fixed" with Gorilla glue - idiotic "safety" features that disable functionality

Today I got so ticked off that I threw it away - there you go, that's my assessment.

This torch works excellent, especially for the price. I would give this torch a 5/5 considering any torch that is actually better already costs more, and for that its a perfect 5/5 for the price range. However, when spending less than twice as much more you can get a better torch with a lifetime warranty, so I put it at 4 stars. My torch stopped igniting the butane after 2-3 years of heavy daily use. It is definitely worth $30 for that life time, but rather than get another I'd prefer to pay more and have a life time warranty. This is a perfect torch for the average Creme Brulee torch user and it has my recommendation for that user. However, for the heavy daily torch user I would recommend spending more for a better torch.
