I use azodyl and renal essentials for my 16 yo cat with kidney problems. So far the two together work wonderfully. His BUN and creatinine have gone down from before his diagnoses. The two vets I have been to both have never heard of renal essentials but said it ingredients are very good at cleaning the blood out. The second vet went so far as to say that my cats urine was so good they werent concerned about the blood levels at this time. And the cats urine is good for a healthy cat, let alone one with early kidney failure. I also reccomend using IV subcutaneous fluids. I do his fluids every three days.

My elder cat, nearly 18, is doing much better after just 3 days taking Vetri-science Renal Essentials. Last night she snatched the capsule from my fingers and gobbled it down. So I decided to offer one this morning to my other cat, four years, who recently had high createnine on a pre-dental blood test. THis is a great product. My 18 yr old cat was diagnosed w/ hyperthyroid and kidney issues. The renal 'food' they gave him was making him vomit frequently, meaning vomiting his thyroid pill. I toook him off that food and started giving him this. He is doing GREAT, hasnt vomited since, has more energy. TiP I will share, I actually grind the pill w/ a pill grinder and put it into his regular wet food that way. Works great. I also grind his thyroid pill and now have no issues with getting him to eat both. ;-)

My 11 year old cat was diagnosed over 2 years ago with Kidney Failure. We've been smashing one pill a night and mixing it with wet food and he has been doing great! We also add hawaiian spirulina, which is helpful at keeping anemia and other problems at bay. He's been having great blood work results and i'm pretty sure these supplements are helping! In fact, his blood work came back yesterday and his createnine(sp?) has decreased and is just slightly outside the normal range. Highly recommend this product, along with spirulina and SubQs for a healthy kitty!

I purchase these as an important part of my senior cat's healthcare plan. She has some kidney disease, but with appropriate care and a good diet we have thus far been able to keep her in good health and happy spirits. She doesn't seem to have read the memo on these being bad to eat; for her, they are a delicious treat and she always knows exactly when it's time to have one.

If your cat doesn't like these vitamins and needs them, I'd suggest trying Greenies Feline Pill Pockets Chicken 1.6oz or Greenies Pill Pockets Tablet, Duck and Pea Flavor, 2.6-Ounce, 25 Count (if you haven't already). The "tablet" version can easily accommodate the renal essentials pill, and the strong flavor of the duck and pea allergy formula seems to mask the fish smell. Those can work very well even with picky eaters.

When Pepito was diagnosed with kidney failure, I started researching options to help him any way I could. I came upon these supplements and decided to give them a shot since they are pretty cheap. He seemed to feel a lot better as soon as he started taking them: more energy, better mood, etc. His kidney values have been good too. He wont eat them on their own though, I have to encase them in a pill pocket. They're pretty big so I started by breaking them in half and putting each half in a pill pocket. They are a little hard and he has bad teeth, that would probably be his only complaint, haha.

I've 2 early CKD cats and bought these in both the pill and treat forms. Charlie loves the treats so he's getting them. Anouk will not eat either on their own, and honestly the pill is kind of hard to be chewable. I managed to find a way to give the pill to Anouk by crushing it with mortar/pestle then mix it in with 1/3 to half a tube of her favourite Ciao Chu ru treat (a treat in paste form) plus a couple teaspoons of water. She laps it up in no time. I suppose adding to wet food works too although I don't do that as I don't want to risk wasting a whole batch of food in case my finicky cat doesn't eat it.
Too early to tell the results. Hope it really helps.
