I've been using this for seven years and it's the best litter box I've ever used in 35 years. It isn't perfect though. The good points are:
- it's extremely sturdy
- it's easy to clean and the plastic doesn't crack despite years of bleach and disinfectant
- the cats use it without question
The parts that need work are:
- sometimes, using the handle to lift it when it's filled with litter, the lid pops right off. I just nudge it around with my foot when it's filled to avoid this.
- mine came with an entry flap and that flap broke within days. I later got another flap, which broke within one day. Without a flap, one of my cats enthusiastically scoops litter right out the opening all over the place. It's nonsense to assume that a cat won't swipe litter at the opening so the high back will prevent it.
- the filter lid falls out instantly. This isn't a deal-breaker, just a guaranteed nuisance every time the lid is lifted for cleaning. Frankly, the filters don't do much and I don't waste money on them any more.
- there is enough space between the upper and lower pieces for a cat who "sits tall in the saddle" to urinate right through it. I solved that by tucking up the ends of the litter pan liners outside the box to catch the overflow and that has worked fine for me. What they should do is redesign the lower pan to be much higher with the lid coming down well past it to prevent this spillage.
- those special high-back liners are very expensive, about 75 cents per liner (sold in a box of 8). It's much more sanitary to use them, but they translate to about $45 a year. With the regular style of jumbo litter box (not high back), I was able to use regular large kitchen trash bags as liners for 10 cents per liner, for about $6 a year.Read more ›

We have purchased Petmate before from Walmart and loved it! Unfortunately we could not find it in the stores in our new location so we came online. When available in the stores, this goes for around $17.99. So we purchased this not caring about the color since it will be put in a corner anyways and I'm guessing our cat doesn't care either. It was supposed to be slate grey and black but it came as a different color. Additionally it was supposed to come with 8 liners but only came with 4 (which is fine because the liners that came do not work since they are way too big for the litter box). This states it's a Petmate but only does the bottom have the name and the top plate doesn't not have Petmate written into the name plate as it should as seen in the stores. I'm guessing the bottom is Petmate and the top is not. Either way the quality is the same and works just as promised. We have no issues with the 'hinges' clipping into each other but I would recommend not carrying it around by the handle. The filter that comes with it is always useless - so don't worry about it if it comes or not. Size is gigantic for our 15 lb cat- she could dance in it if she wanted to. We still love this and we know it will last for years just as the last one did. We would recommend this if you aren't serious about a certain color.

I've had this litter pan for over 5 years now, and have had no problems except one of the little tabs on the litter scoop that holds it into position in the lid broke...so I now have to store the scoop elsewhere (wish I could find a replacement). But I've had no other problems; it has held up well, surviving occasional raids by my dog (who gets her head stuck in the opening and bangs it around occasionally). Perhaps I have a different model: #2664 is mine and I bought it at Wal-Mart. Would recommend it to anyone -- the lid helps contain the litter within the box, and as I have this box in my bathroom, I appreciate hiding the results of my cat's visits until I've cleaned them up.

While I have never actually tried this myself, my cat adjusted to it right away. I love it because the thick, jumbo liners it comes with make it super easy to remove the old litter, and the handle on top makes cleaning easy.

Perfect size for 2 cats. It's made out of sturdy plastic. My only complaint is the filter on top does not keep all the smell in. But I guess it would have to be completely enclosed for that. Completely satisfied.

This is a great box for the cost, especially for my two boys who like to pee so that it leaks out the corner. This is high enough in back so they can't do that. BUT, if you have to move it a lot, don't bother because the clasps will not hold with the weight of the litter so you can't really move it well without supporting the box. In other words, if you went to move it by the handle alone, you are gonna wind up with the bottom falling off and a mess to clean. If ya don't have to move it, get it.
