From experience, we recommend a second pair of glove inserts for all gloves. These are stored within the shells, two inserts in each shell. They can stay on the back of the hand and not interfere with using your fingers. Still recommend they be put close to the body when out and about to change when the pair in use gets wet.

These are the ambidextrous wool liners for the actual trigger finger mittens (sold separately here on Amazon). I bought an extra pair of these liners as a spare. They are good to have in case the first pair get saturated from sweat, or lost.
The liners will fit either hand by design.

I bought these very cheaply in bulk from a surplus store in new unissued condition, size medium, for about $1.50 a pair. What I'd like to add to the reviews here is the information contained on the instruction card that came with those liners for everyone's benefit.

"WEARING INSTRUCTIONS
MITTENS-INSERTS, COLD WEATHER, TRIGGER FINGER
Wear only under other mittens.
Inserts absorb moisture and will become wet and cold if worn alone.
Carry two pairs in case one pair becomes wet.
Remove inserts before sweating makes them damp.
Dry slowly away from flame or take them into the sleeping bag at night.
Dirty inserts are cold.
Dryclean or wash in cold or lukewarm water with mild soap.
Don't use hot water. Hot water will shrink inserts.
Keep them clean.
The inserts can be worn on either hand.
Shift them to the opposite hands frequently so they will wear longer."

I hope this helps someone.

Get these, forget the leathe- palmed mittens they are liners for. The mittens are too cumbersome to be of much use. These liners are dense wool and keep wind out. They keep hands warm but one can still hammer tent pegs, put up tent poles, zip and unzip things, build a fire, do farm chores or whatever one has to do.
