It's ready to go out of the box-- no downloading required-- and comes pre-loaded with map data of the United States and Canada. This system also gives you access to over 1.4 million points of interest, including restaurants, hotels, and key attractions. Once you've decided on a destination, the NVM-4030 gets you where you're going via clear voice guidance (in English or Spanish) and turn-by-turn navigation. This handy system comes with a lithium-ion battery that provides up to 3.5 hours of play time.

The Sanyo NVM-4030 Portable Navigation System features a 4" TFT (16x9) screen with Voice Guidance with turn-by-turn navigation and Bluetooth Hands-free calling. No Download is required for easy start-up and contains Continental U>S. and Canada data. It plays MP3/WMA/WAV stored on a SD card as well. Voice languages are English and Spanish and come with a Li-on Battery with provides up to 3.5 hours of play time. Accessories included are AC/DC Power Adapters, Car Mounting Kit, USB cable and a 1GB SD Card storing U.S. Map Data.

This thing is a peice of junk and buy dot com wont take it back after 20 days, it locks up with fatal application error and the maps are terribly out of date.ASIN:B000K2DHQW Sanyo NVM-4030 Navigation System]]

I returned this piece of Junk.
1) Maps are old
2) If you are looking for good customer service, there aint any.
3) Quality of GPS receiver is no good. Does not connect most of the times.
4) If you switch off and switch back on, it wont find the satellite. You would need to exit the navigation mode and come back again.
5) Bluetooth works well
6) No voice conversion

I used this unit to drive from NJ to conn. not only was it easy to program and use it was very simple to pair with my cell phone, it was clear and easy to use.
