Keeps my yellow lab contained within an area when I have to leave her home. It prevents her from damaging/chewing my things and potentially hurting herself by digesting things that she should not. It seems more humane than a cage because the pen allows her to stretch out and move around a little. She is able push it around when she gets excited. So, watch out for what floor type you have it on if you use it inside. The rubber pads are not useful in my opinion.
They fall off and are potentially hazard to eat for the dog.

I put my second dog (German Shepherd/Lab mix) in with the lab sometimes when she needs a timeout. The lab rushes in the pen with her because she enjoys it in there. I put some blankets and towels on the floor to give the dog some comfort from the hard floor. Also, the pen allows placement of both water and food bowls so that your dog can eat and drink at her leisure.

I returned my first one because one bolts of the two latches was not long enough allowing my lab to partially open the pen. I returned the pen and got a new one promptly. No issues with the new one.

I have not used it outside, so I cannot comment on the outside useage. I bought this as an alternative to an indoor cage.

Pros:
Bigger than a cage
Allows dog to move and stretch out
Enough room to leave food and water bowls in
Can fit multiple dogs in it
Has not fallen over when dog jumps on side
Dog cannot jump out of it

Cons:
Dog can push it around
Big (need room to place it)

Neutral:
Rubber pads: no benefit added
Check gate and latches for defects. If any defects, return and get a new one

I have an 8 month old Irish Wolfhound (Shaemus). He currently weighs in at over 70 pounds and is expected to top 160 within another year. He is 28" at the shoulder now and should exceed 34 in the next six months. I've mounted this X-Pen to the wall and it is his official room. "Go to your room" means a treat is imminent and he happily trots into his room. He stores all his toys there. Access for him is easy, but I did have to use a small set of vise grips to secure the door as he learned quickly how to unlatch it himself. He's pulled a table cloth through the bars and torn down a picture hung over his room (shame on us for keeping things within reach, but nothing is left now), but he is secure in it when we are out. While he can move the walls a little, 2 to 3 feet in three directions, this pen has allowed my wife and I the freedom to take in a movie or go out to dinner once in awhile. This is a low cost quality room that fits our needs perfectly. I highly recommend this product to anyone with a large dog that requires the ability to control its access throughout the house at times. We've had the X-Pen for about six months now and it is holding up well to Shaemus' shenanigans. No damage to the walls or floor and all the walls are still straight.

I bought this pen for our 2 American Bulldogs to use as a pen while we are RV Camping. It is well made and sturdy. I find it a bit cramped for 2 100+ pound dogs to wrestle in, so I ordered a second one so I can double the size. It is simple to fold up and set up.

Regardless to what some so-called animal experts say, I don't think caging pets while you go to work or run errands is mentally healthy for them. I tried that for like 2 days and my dogs were noticeably depressed. Goodbye cage. I decided to try this playpen so my Pugs and Cocker Spaniel could stay together while I ran my errands and now it's one of those things I can't live without. My dogs feel safe and comfortable in there, it has plenty of room for 3-4 small to medium dogs, and still enough space for food and water. Also, it gives my pets enough room to move around, but is confined enough that my potty-challenged Pugs don't mess in it... they wait for me to return and let them outside to do their business (thank God!)

This has been perfect for keeping our puppy during the day. He feels safe and secure, and has room to stretch and restroom. He does not appear to try and jump on it, so I can't say how well it would hold up to that while indoors. We do place a few weights around the edges just to help keep it in place, but that might not be necessary.... When he was a puppy we put his kennel in there a few times to help him like it, but now that we have his larger kennel we just put his bed or a blanket in there. We have been using it for him for over 3 months now with no problem. Set up and storing is a breeze. There are not directions, because you don't need them! It can be arranged in any shape you wish, so that is helpful. Overall, great product, very glad we purchased this!
