UPDATE 1/27/2013: Nothing good lasts forever, but this toy lasted far longer than any other I've thrown at my three dogs. I awoke this morning to find the dog kennel floor covered in white stuffing, as if the toy had exploded at some point during the night. It almost made it an entire year before succumbing to the destructive efforts of three dogs. Will definitely order another... well worth the money.

UPDATE 5/20/2012: I sit here at the computer watching my two largest dogs play tug of war with this seemingly indestructible toy, which has outlasted every single other stuffed toy I've ever thrown their way. It's not pretty - the edges are frayed and the outer covering looks like, well, like it's been the favorite toy of three destructive pups for the last three months or so, and yet it still retains its stitching and stuffing. Talk about money well spent!

UPDATE 3/3/2012: This toy remains THE favorite toy for my three dogs. It's been outside, rained on, and fought over yet remains intact. I've even put it through a washer and dryer cycle. The edges are tattered, but the seam continues to hold tight.

UPDATE 2/13/2012: I was premature in my judgment outlined below. While the black cloth covering of the seam was shredded from day one, giving the toy a feathered-looking outline, the seam itself is holding strong, as is the cloth covering, preventing the toy from being unstuffed and ripped apart. My three dogs (a pit bull and two mutts) have been playing non-stop with this toy (it's their new favorite) and it's holding up just fine. Highly recommended for destructive pooches.Read more ›

Our 85 lb. dog destroys pretty much any squeeker toy put in front of him. This is the only toy that has ever made in past a few days. We have had this ring for almost a year and do not even have a ripped seam. It is incredibly durable. There are three or four squeekers inside, but only one is still functional. The rest of the toy has survived fantastically. Highly recommend this toy for dogs who chew a lot.

I have an 8mos old border collie mix that is the strongest chewer I've ever owned. Thankfully he only chews on his toys! Unfortunately it makes if very hard for us to find things that can withstand his jaws. I was so hopeful with this one. He had the sides chewed off in 15 minutes. I'm not lying. The stuffing was ripped out before I knew it, and within this mass of white cloud was one of the squeakers - which they market as being triple wrapped in "tuff" material to keep it in the toy. He really did LOVE this toy though, I'll give them that - but it definitely did NOT hold up at all.

If your dog is a big time chewer, don't get this toy - it just won't last. I've had the best luck with a sherpa dragon - that at least lasted about 5 days before I had to throw it out.

Tuffy toys are great but like any toy you give a hard core chewer, it's doomed from day one.We have two Old English Bulldogs, Harley a 90 pound line backer the size of a Volkswagen and Elvis a 40 pound five month old puppy, both are relentless chewers.
That said, I know going into any soft dog toy with a sense of deep sadness and regret, but sometimes you just can't help yourself.

When Harley was a puppy he had this odd habit of chewing on a tiny seam or piece of string. We thought is was a puppy phase and that he would grow out of it eventually. Well, it's six years later and we're still waiting. He does this with virtually everything, including our bedding - which is why our prized 1,000 thread count sheets look like swiss cheese.So this particular toy didn't stand a chance, he found the seam within a few minutes and BAM! pulled it open.

Not the fault of the toy - the fault of Harley and his 5,000 PSI jaws.It crossed my mind to deduct a point because the seam was literally pulled apart in minutes. But then I remember how these two lunatics just adore this toy.They go absolutely nuts for it.

What's left of the Tuffy is parked somewhere in that endless void of half chewed nylabones, Kongs, tennis balls and once adorable stuffed bunnies and hedgehogs that now resemble road kill. But I can tell you this - the Tuffy Tug of War is the ONE toy that excites them as much now as it did the day it first arrived.

Watching them crank up the crazy, and getting in on the fun myself makes it all worthwhile In fact I recently ordered the Tuffy Ultimate Three way Tug of war which is a whopping 25" long and 9" wide.If your dog or dogs aren't serial killer level crazy chewers - you'll be just fine and I can see these toys lasting for months on end.Read more ›

This toy was good for two things, getting no my dogs attention. And falling apart. It was almost comical how fast my dog chewed this thing apart. A small petsmart toy lasted a few months. So I figured this tuff toy would at least last that long.
I gave my pup the toy after coming home from the store with it, and not 5 minutes went by before I noticed he had already opened up one of the corners. I laughed at how fast this thing was already falling apart. Especially after I read about its 9 out of 10 toughness rating. It's 7 layers of stitching. 4 layers of material. And secret tough pouched for squeakers. It took about a total of 6-7 minutes for the squeaker to be outside of the pouch and the stuffing exposed. I don't think there's anything that can be done to make a toy tough enough for this dog. Shame on me I guess for thinking anything this soft would actually hold up.

But still 1 star because of how fast this thing fell apart when it's claiming to be so "tuff" what a joke.
