This pedal works well in my rig, I have two Boss EQ20's advanced EQ's and sometimes they are complicated due to the 10 bands they have, this little toy does the trick, and does it very well, I think that people who writes negative reviews don't know how to use it, it can require some time and experience but having much more expensive equipment to compare this pedal is a very good eq and for the price is unbeatable, highly recommended... or you can go for the overpriced $100+ Boss original unit, at the end is the same, maybe a little quieter but essentially the same if you know what you are doing.

This is a simple guitar EQ pedal. It doesn't claim to be anything fancy, it just does the job. It's quiet as long as you don't go crazy boosting the upper mids and highs. How you place it in your signal chain is the key to keeping the noise floor low. If you place it after some already hissy, noisy distortion pedal, whooshing flangers or chorus pedals you will increase the hiss dramatically. That is not the fault of this pedal. It will boost and alter the signal you feeds into it. So if you have 5-10 db of hiss coming out of another pedal and you run it into this EQ pedal, expect it to be increased. On the other hand if you want to decrease the hiss of another noisy pedal you might be able to decrease some noise with this simple EQ.

I am giving it four stars based on price and functionality. I left off a star because the caps on the sliders are not attached (glued) to the stems and tend to fall off. When you get this pedal I suggest the first thing you do is put a little dab of Super Glue on the head of each slide control so the caps are permanently in place or you'll be crawling around on a dark stage after a gig looking for the tops of the sliders..

As is true for other Behringer pedals I have used the EQ700 is quiet, solid, basic and effective.

Some find fault with their plastic construction but for most purposes I do not. Motorcycle helmets and the like are made with modern plastics. These appear tough.

On the other hand the slider controls themselves are probably a bit delicate, and even if not broken by an errant foot their settings would be easily disturbed. There should be a cover that fits over the sliders.

But for all this the EQ700 is a useful tool, enabling shaping of the tone with a precision beyond that of an amps tone controls.

My own favorite uses is to 1) tighten the bass without thickening the overall bottom end. I do this by raising the 100 hz slider about 8db and at the same time decreasing the 200hz output just enough to compensate for the 100hz slider's influence on the the frequency centered above it. (The hz designations give the center point of the slider's action. Picture it as a hill of beans that grows wider at the base as it get taller) and 2) to add sparkle to the upper frequencies with the slider most effective for this depending on the guitar and its PUP type. This only requires a small (3db) increase and thus does not noticeably influence any frequency outside of the slider's own range.

Behringer often gets a bad rep for making sub standard gear but that is certainly NOT the case with this pedal. For the money I'm thrilled with the pedal and the sound quality is great. The EQ and pass through work well. It's made of plastic but the construction is solid and it's got some great range on the boost. I just needed a good solid EQ with some boost and that's what I got. If you need something solid and straight forward and don't have a lot of money I recommend getting this pedal. Heck, it's a nice pedal to keep in your arsenal when you need a little something extra on your guitar. I use this on my six and twelve string acoustics for live performance and it does not disappoint.

I purchased a VOX 100x2 amp and the thing had way to much low end at lower volumes. The vox forum website recommended this as a reasonable alternative. It works really well. Not very heavy though so you may want to put it on a non skid pad or mount to a board if you want to stomp it a lot.

The good: the EQ controls are wonderful, and you can use this to dial in some amazing distortion effects if you place it before your amp or before your distortion pedal. I absolutely love the sounds I can make with it. However, it's all plastic, and it feels a bit cheap, like you might break it accidentally. It also generates quite a bit of noise. I've heard there are quieter EQ pedals out there, which is easy to believe. This one just kind of hisses in the background. But, it's cheap so I don't mind. Supposedly you can swap out the op amps to get rid of the hiss, I'm not sure if this is true.

Arrived on time dead. Installed 9 volt battery and no led activity at all. Wondering if there is any quality control on this unit? Power adapter is a separate purchase. Plastic housing. Ordered replacement unit and purchased Power adapter. Didn't save the original box and paid 2.75 at UPS store for another box to ship defective unit back. Cheesy method to get to battery compartment. Boss equalizers are easier to get to battery compartment. Hoping the replacement unit will be functional.Extremely disappointed. Amazom is replacing unit no charge including return shipping. Just had to buy another box since I didn't keep original box intact.
