My wife has MS, and can no longer walk. She gets around our house on a motorized scooter, but doors are very difficult for her to manage. I installed the Skylink DM-50 on the door that is used the most by her. The operation of the opener is flawless, and has definitely made life easier for her. I have intermediate-to-advanced handiman skills, and I found the installation quite easy. I think people that have any experience with a drill and screw-driver could install this themselves. I'm buying another for the 2nd most-used door in my house.

... door opener. I had the first one for less than a year and the arm that opens the door broke. I bought this one as a replacement to the first and the install with a lock guard was horrific. It is currently half installed on my door and is absolutely no use to me.

Even without the lock guard, this door opener was glitchy at best. It took a while to open the door and would constantly come off track. I would not recommend it for front door use with other people opening the door manually - it cannot handle it. This opener is best for a door that not many people would open manually.

I would not recommend it.
