I've had a ski boat for 28 years and constantly worried the stereo would drain the battery.
I installed the Perko switch last summer with a second battery and now relax.
Installation was straight forward with the wiring diagrams provided.
My 17 year old son and I bought battery cables at a local automotive store, bolted the switch to the top of a battery box purchased on Amazon and completed the installation in about three hours. As a precautionary measure we used Permatex liquid electrical tape to coat the connections since this is in a marine environment.
Now we can:
Start using a single or both batteries connected in parallel
Run the boat charging both batteries
When stopped, switch to running the stereo on one battery reserving the second for starting.
Now with two batteries and the Perko switch we boat all day, switch to a single battery when operating the stereo while anchored and don't worry about starting the engine.

I have been used this switch for about a year in my truck. I have 4 extra ligths and a winch... It had word perfectly with both bateries. Be carefull when positioning it, cover wires all way around, a i had a short circuit once

This product is a wonderful solution to having just one battery (or two with jumper cables). The best thing is that it takes very little time to install it. All you need is a few cables, some lugs and about an hour to hook it all up. Since this switch comes with the alternator field protection circuit, I hooked it up too. Not in the plan but definitely a good move was to screw a cypress block to the top of a plastic battery box. Then I mounted the switch directly on the block. It's easy to manage because the cables are short and the battery boxes are screwed to the floor. Nothing moves around. This is so easy you shouldn't even think about it. Make good connections, protect them with liquid tape and forget them.
