I'm left-handed, so top spiral notebooks are required. Had real hopes in trying this one, since it's Prime-eligible, but it's definitely not there yet.

The good: paper is very bright/white, blue/red line inks are crisp & clear, top spiral is wide enough for top edges to not get caught while flipping pages, the pages are already 3-hole punched, the paper is very smooth so writing resistance is low (matters if you do a lot of writing), page count is healthy for this class of product.

The neutral: has two divider pockets creating three sections - for me these are unneeded and just add bulk/weight, but others might find them useful.

The bad: (1) the paper finish doesn't absorb/dry ink quickly so the ink smearing risk is way too high; (2) the cardboard back is only about 2/5 as thick as the option linked below, making the whole pad floppy; (3) the perforations at the top are the kind where you have to manually crease each page, one at a time, before trying to separate one without tearing. I need pads that I can write very quickly on, that has a backing thick/rigid enough to write on while standing/walking, and where multiple pages (e.g. 3) can be torn out CLEANLY at a time for insertion into a permanent home.

I'm glad I just ordered one for testing purposes - I normally order a dozen pads at a time. For now, the Ampad product below is the best I've found to date that's made in the USA. There's better stuff from France but the cost is significant.

This is a good notebook for me (a leftie) because the spiral doesn't hurt my hand. The paper is kind of thin. It does not bleed through onto the next page (using my gel pens) but you can see it on the back side of the paper. Overall it's a good notebook. I'll just write on the front page.

The only notable thing about this notebook is that the paper is abnormally smooth and almost silky. It's texture is like that of magazine paper. There is no problem writing on the paper with either pencil or pen.

The paper is heavy enough and I like that it is perforated and has holes on the sides so it's ready to store in a binder. The back cover is not incredibly sturdy, certainly not cheap feeling but good enough. I didn't really find the folders helpful so I cut them out and that made the whole notebook lighter. I wish these were easier to find in staples but if you're a lefty and looking for a good notebook, this one does the job.

I was worried about the other reviews that said the ink doesn't dry fast and the pen slides across the page, but I needed a three-ring whole punched, perforated, top-down notebook for my lecture notes so I went ahead and bought it. It was definitely worth the buy, and I'm going to be purchasing these from now on when I finish my current one. The price is excellent, and the lines are clear. I don't have problems writing on it, or my pen sliding across the paper - it feels just as smooth as other notebook paper. I think some of the reviews on here are very picky, which I can be, but it's just a pad of paper.
Be aware that the paper is 8.5 by 11.5 inches, not 8.5 by 11 inches. This knocks off one star for me because my binders where I keep my notes are built (like virtually all other binders) for 8.5 by 11 inch sheets. I have to extend the holes in this pad of paper to make them fit. Not a big deal, but the larger size does stick out of my binder and makes it harder to put in there. Five stars for that design change - it seems like a development oversight to me.

I'm left handed and this notebook is the best of all the top-bound notebooks I've tried. The back is rigid and the paper is nice and thick. I like that it's pre-perforated and hole punched which makes turning in assignments and storing notes easy. The only bad part is that the cover starts to look ugly after a while (small water drops made it turn a different color and get bumpy in some places), but that does not outweigh the overall quality. Perhaps a plastic/waterproof cover would be better. I also wish I could choose which color I get. Highly recommended nevertheless!

Good notebook for lefties or anybody who writes a lot. I used to use Silverpoint notebooks (by Top Flight, 70 sheets) but at my speed of writing, I go through one of those in 1-1.5 month, so paying around $10 each time adds up quickly. (Also, as of summer 2015, the Top Flight paper seems to have changed, and my fountain pens now bleed right through.)

This notebook features 120 sheets of smooth, white paper, which takes fountain pens well (Yes, you can see through to the other side, depending on the fountain pen and ink you use - I use pilot Metropoiltan, medium and fine nib, with Noodler's Ink - but it does not bleed through. And yes, I would have preferred a stronger backing and the paper to be less brightly white, so that it could be not so dazzling and hard on your eyes, when writing outdoors. -- Hence, 4 stars). But it is a good notebook and it used to be very price-friendly. I have been paying, on Amazon, between $4.99 and $6.99 per pad.

Right now (March 2016), I see a dramatic increase in price: over $8. It is still a better value and quality over other notebooks, but not nearly as economical.
