My baby is very active and this seat just not work for her. By five months, she was able to get out of it. The tray is a complete joke, it doesn't stay on (maybe if your baby is not as active as mine it would, but my daughter tears it apart in 30 seconds flat). If you don't use the tray, then the baby is just sitting there because she can't reach any toys from it. I prefer Boppies. Boppies can be used when your baby is a newborn as a nursing pillow or to lay her under playgyms, when she gets a bit older for tummy time, when she can sit up to help support her and cushion her if she topples over, and later as a fun pillow. BTW, these need to stay on the ground, the directions make that very clear. There is videos on Youtube of people using these and they have the baby sitting on kitchen counters and what not. Yikes! All I can say, is that those babies are very sedate compared to my daughter, else they'd be dead from tipping the seat off the counter. It makes me a nervous wreck to even see the videos. My daughter has places to go and people to see, no just sitting there for her.
