This set is very nice, and like everyone says the case is bad at keeping the tools in. To solve this problem I had some bubble wrap laying around, and I put it in the case which fixed that problem. Good tools none the less.

I bought this set because it had all the sockets and wrenches I needed in one case. Additionally, very few people have black socket sets and it makes it easy to identify my tools on the job site. The one major complaint I have is the sockets falling out of their places when you open the case. It's not just one or two, but nearly half.

This set has been great for maintenance around the shop. Carrying it on the truck, however, reveals the problems everyone's been having with the case.

Given that you can generally adjust most of the sockets to stay firm even when bouncing along on and off road, it's really not such a problem that the case doesn't hold them fast all the time. The biggest hangup is the foam padding ~ I've noticed it tends to get pinched between socket and case, and when it does those are the sockets that pop out.

Another reviewer suggested using a sheet of bubble wrap, and that or a sheet of soft foam should take care of the problem entirely.

Just got this a few weeks ago, but really only getting to know this item this morning. Seems to be of good quality for middle of the road type hand tools made these days. I made my decision quite blind since Stanley wasn't able to give me an exact parts list and it took them a few weeks to give me a general list. Of course some kits come with a lot of pieces like 40 hex keys, equal amount of screwdriver bits and just duplicates of sockets and/or 6pt as well as 12pt sockets. This seemed to be a good all around kit with a good amount of basic combination wrenches, good range of sockets, the basic screwdriver bits and longer 6" extension for the 3/8" ratchet (not the short 3" with most kits).

Now some quick observations. This set is very close to the one sold by Husky, although I think the Husky tops out with a 19mm deep socket, while only 18mm with this Stanley kit. (Standard depth socket does top out at 19mm). But it does have a 13/16" spark plug socket (in addition to the 5/8") in place, I think. I also tried to get a complete parts list from Husky/Home Depot with no luck! Since I am on the topic of the deep socket, they are just not very deep! Compared to my cheap Tekton 3/8" deep sockets, they are only about 2/3's the depth or the Tekton is at least 50% deeper and comparing the Stanley deep socket to the standard depth, you gain maybe 2X the depth? Don't know if this is standard with kit type sockets? But I can see myself needing a deeper socket for some work!

Handle for the 1/4" socket holder as well as bit holder (with 1/4" socket to 1/4" hex adapter) is quite small and may hinder when you need to apply extra torque and since the handle is plastic (remember the old style screwdrivers!) gripping ability may also be an issue.

First of all these tools look great since they're in black chrome which helps identify YOUR tools. I've gotten a few comments on them from the other guys in the shop so far. I'm an entry level tech and can't afford to be spending the silly money for industrial tools like your Snap-On, Matco, MAC, etc to fill my whole tool box just yet. So I only buy the industrial things you shouldn't go cheap on like the box and impact/air stuff. I have been using these on a daily basis now for almost 2 months and they are well worth the money and are of exceptional quality. Do I expect these to last for years in a professional shop environment? No... But judging by how they've held up so far, they will definitely last until I can afford the pro level stuff. But it's also worth mentioning that these tools have a lifetime warranty as well.

I received several Visa gift cards for christmas (and knowing pretty much what I wanted), I headed straight to Amazon.
I wasn't 100% sure of the specifics, but I knew it was a new set of tools for working on my motorcycle. There were many mechanics sets to choose from (some w/ more tools, some w/ less tools and all about the same price). I knew that over time I would be looking for my new tools amongst all of my old ones, So I decided on the Black Chrome. Now there is no chance these will ever blend in with my old tools.
One of the other selling points for me was the lack of Allen Wrenches in this kit. Some other kits had over 100 tools included, but most included 20 or more allen wrenches. I have at least 3 full sets of these already, so the last thing I wanted to do was get more.
The package was well packed, and arrived on time. Not one tool had even broken loose inside the case during shipping (I don't usually see kits looking this nice in the store). The black Chrome is very sharp looking and stands out wonderfully against all of my other tools. And of course there is the Stanley lifetime warranty, so I definately feel that I got an amazing deal.

the tool themselves are fine but for the way they package these is ridiculous. They put 19 Philips head screws through a clear plastic cover (which allows the tools to be displayed) into the actual case these are stored in. Many of the screw holes go right through the size marking on the case and leaving holes all throughout the case. I'm not sure about you but when I buy something I don't like to have the manufacturer ruin it for me. I won't be buying anymore Stanley tools that's for sure. Apparently the geniuses at Stanley couldn't figure out a better way to package these other than 19 screws through the case! Not impressed
