I bought this for some exhaust work (as most). These would be great IF they has a constant tension system. Putting constant high pressure with your hands on the plier grips while trying to work through 3" 304 SS pipe is not fun. I ended up machining two slots, one at the end of each grip and installed a fine threaded bolt with a washer and wing nut through the grip span. This allows me to slowly tighten the pliers and keep constant pressure on the pipe that's being cut. This makes it easier to start straight cuts, etc. as I can now focus on the actual cut and not keeping pressure on the plier grips.

I wasn't expecting this thing to cut my 3 inch exhaust as fast and cleanly as it did. It was very easy to use. The only thing I did notice is make sure you rotate it around (if you can) so you make it cut evenly, because it does get harder to finish off if the one side is through and the other isnt as close.

A really clever design for a pipe cutter; the blades are sharp and it cut a nice track. You do have to be patient with cutting steel pipes, and take care initially to lay out a good track... lots of patience is required with thicker hard stainless steel pipes, but when you finally get done it make you feel like a real man! It's technically is not meant for stainless steel, but concensus here is that should probably work, except dull the blade and so it would be a one time or two time use tool which is fine at that price. After cutting midway I sprayed wd40 as cutting oil; silicone spray or marvel mystery oil would have been much better lubricant. Near the end of the cut when part of the pipe is cut through and other parts are not, it gets rougher and friction in the sawing oscillations; once the metal is thin enough you might just want to try twisting the pipe. It's also handy at that point to have a small hacksaw with fine teeth at your side.

I consider this to be a disposable tool. It lets me do my own exhaust work, but I found that it was dull after three cuts. I managed to make a forth cut with it, but it was difficult.

I really love that it only requires a quarter turn freedom of movement to make the cut, and very little clearance as well.

At the price, I feel it is worth it, and bought another one to work on another exhaust.

There is a replacement chain available, but at the moment, it is the same price as the entire tool...

I tried this on my 2" diameter muffler pipe, and found that it couldn't even "catch" on the closest cutting blade (i.e., ideally, you open the wrench, then close it on the closest cutting blade (i.e., each blade has a "pin" which "mounts" on the wrench)). So, I was forced to use the next closest blade, which wouldn't close on the pipe, even though I squeezed it until my palms felt as if they were going to pop off my hands! The best I could do was merely score the surface of the pipe, and it wasn't an even cut at that. The biggest problem is that the evenly-spaced, round, "blades" don't allow for between-sized pipes, such as, apparently, my muffler pipe. In that regard, it was useless. However, after that failure, I tried it on some other, narrower, household pipes and rods that I needed to cut down to size for recycling, and it did a superb job. Once the wrench clamps down on the pipe, it "bites" right into and through the stainless steel pipe like butter (even though it says it won't work on stainless steel!), and twisting/turning the wrench finishes the job in just one or two quarter turns, depending on the thickness of the pipe/rod. So, it worked great on "easy" stuff (i.e., things I could have used a hacksaw or drill sawblade on), but not on the very thing it, allegedly, was meant for. Had it worked on its intended target, it would have been well-worth the price; since it didn't, and since I already had an alternative for the other uses, it wasn't.

Used this to cut stock exhaust pipe off an old Camaro. Worked perfectly, very pleased with the great cuts it made and ease of use. Make sure what you are cutting does not move around, it doesn't work that way. Have the pipe secure, or in my case still mounted on the car and it cuts through it like butter. I made three separate cuts to get the stock exhaust out and it still looks new. Also, make sure to use wd40 or something similar to lubricate the tool as your using it. Don't go crazy, just spray all the moving parts.
