Not a lot to say about this except it works fine. The pull cord should be a tad longer but it's usable. The cord switches ONLY the bulb and the socket contacts are ALWAYS hot. Note, AC sockets are TWO prong only so if you must use a 3 prong item use a adapter but be careful as you no longer have it grounded. I have a metal body 3 prong AC electric drill that I would never use with an adapter because of the metal body. Stay safe!

I had a closet ceiling light fixture with a broken switch. Such items are all made in China these days, and the switches all break after a few years. Having replaced the fixture once (with another bad one made in China), I really didn't feel like buying another one and installing it - knowing that it would also break in short order.

No problem. Screwed this thing into the socket and I now have a light again. And the switch at least feels like it's going to last a while. If it breaks, I can just unscrew it and screw in a new one. One of life's little hassles solved and the wife is pleased.

cheap way to add a pull chain to a lamp, also adds 2 non grounded socket for cell chargers or whatever you need. The one thing I do caution about the product is that the ball at the end of the pull chain is fairly robust and the pull mechanism has a lot or spring to it, I worry that the string pulled to hard would come back and break a bulb.

So editing the review to add that yes in fact pulling the string it snaps back pretty quick and did smash a cree LED bulb, I am replacing it with another cree LED bulb but the new ones have a plastic casing. I would not recommend this for CFL use because of the possibility of spilling mercury everywhere. I went ahead and snipped off the heavy ball at the end and got a longer chain from a local hardware store for under a dollar. The product still works great and I acknowledge that pulling it to fast and hard was my fault for not thinking just advanced warning in case you do the same, I had been trying to consciously not do it then one time i forget and boom $10 bulb bye bye (actually re purposed into a short bulb in an enclosed fixture after removal of the glass and insulating the rest of the unit sans the LEDs but i digress)

We went to Curry Village in Yosemite and beforehand, we were advised that the tent cabins had a single hanging light and no outlets. So, I searched all over for something like this outlet and ended up buying three of them for myself and fellow campers. They worked perfectly and we ended up leaving two of them in for the benefit of future campers.

I have been using this about a week now. I put it out in my backyard light socket. It is so convenient because of the pull chain. I leave the switch on inside and I have my bug zapper plugged in it. So I can leave the bug zapper on all evening but pull the chain to turn the porch light on and off. Plus I still have an additional outlet open for when my husband trims the grass. He can plug the weed eater there. This is a great device. It works well and solves some real issues for us. It is a great asset.

I bought three of these, and I'm not sure what to think. At least one of them works, but the first one I tried exploded when I tried to plug in an AC adapter. It blinded me for a few minutes and threw a lot of sparks, even melted the plugs on my adapter before the breaker got thrown. Pure luck that I didn't get severely burned or shocked.
The other one I've tried worked alright, though it's really hard to get the plugs to seat in the socket. We'll see if I'm lucky or unlucky on the third one.

Does what it says it does. Quality is pretty decent for the price. Pulling the chain on/off for the light bulb does not affect the power to the outlet that is built in. You just have to leave the light switch on. I use this in a basement closet where I need a light but also need to periodically run a small dehumidifier.
