So for photography usage, unless you're looking to create a *very* dim environment these are not going to work for you. Also, the bulb does not look anything like what's pictured here. If you cut off the head of what's pictured that's a more accurate description. I've added a picture of the bulb to the product's page so you can see what it REALLY looks like. The nice thing is the bulb is small enough to fit in a snoot, but the bad thing is it's so dim that the snoot chokes off waaaay too much light, rendering the light's output almost indiscernible.
I wish Amazon would stock some 250 watt versions of these, if Wescott makes them. It's a shame the choices are 500 watt or 100 watt. Way too big a difference between those two power outputs.
Also I know you can get the white balance adjusted if you're using these and these alone, but be aware that these will not mesh well with brighter bulbs of the same type (tungsten halogen). They are a heck of a lot warmer. Lighting the scene with just these makes everything have way too warm a look. Again white balance will even it out, but when you're shooting with them it's very odd.
