Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

With a cooling capacity of 7,000 BTU's per hour, this portable air conditioner quickly and efficiently cools rooms up to 160 square feet. The unit features user-friendly electronic controls and a full-function remote control, which makes it easy to adjust the settings from across the room. Choose from three cool settings and three fan settings. The unit can also be used to dehumidify the air, and its self-evaporating system allows for continuous use. In addition, by setting the 24-hour on/off timer, the air conditioner will run only when it's needed--set it to start cooling right before you get home from work, for example. The unit offers an energy-efficiency rating of 8.2, and its ultra-quiet operation makes it a nice choice for a bedroom or home office. Other highlights include multi-directional continuous airflow, an easy-access air filter, and portable casters for smooth transport from one location to another. A condensation-collection bottle and a 5-foot exhaust hose with a window kit (for installing the exhaust hose) come included. The air conditioner measures 13-1/8 by 18 by 24-3/8 inches and carries a one-year parts-and-labor warranty with a five-year warranty on the compressor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great AC unit, May 22, 2009
This unit works great. It is really powerfull and pretty quiet. Comes on wheels so it is easy to move around. Keeps our large rooms cool right through the summer. Note this needs to vent out of a window. No problem for me and I'm really happy with it!

2.0 out of 5 stars Good unit, lousy support, July 8, 2009
By Wayne Paterson "allpar2" (Teaneck, NJ United States) - See all my reviews
As a previous poster noted, Amana does not acknowledge the existence of these rebadged Haier units on its site. Unfortunately, Haier also does not seem to acknowledge them, making support put-near impossible. The a/c unit does require a small window (or a large one largely blocked off) which can take some work if your windows are not the right size, but that's true of any unit like these. It is a very handy unit, without the need to empty buckets. It is also fairly noisy, with odd controls that require the remote. It was great the first year we had it, less so the second despite careful storage. You'd probably do better with a domestic-production (or European, or Japanese) unit if you can find one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Unit, August 1, 2009
Its great. No buckets of water to empty daily and well worth the cost. I use it to cool a spare bedroom that is usually very hot, and it has made that room cool enough to make it comfortable to sleep in. It does vent out a window, but easily moved into closet during cooler months or as a back up a/c when the whole house air fails. It will only cool one room, but at this price point, ([...]) its well worth any short falls. Velcro remote to top of unit so does not get lost is suggested or keeping remote in a nearby draw for safe keeping.

While this is a nice unit, it does have a significant drawback. All controls are not on the cabinet. The remote control is required. Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars not really portable - beware
This product is advertised as being portable, but it must be attached to a window vent to work. It also won't work with a sliding glass door. So it's not portable. Read more
