Reks comes out with guns blazing on his third official studio album titled "R.hythmatic E.ternal K.ing S.upreme". R.E.K.S. hits you with 16 tracks of straight, raw, contiuous hip hop. - NO FILLER. -The album boasts an impressive lineup of producers and guest spots, kicking off with the hit single, "25th Hour" produced by DJ Premier. The track is 3 verses of pure jaw-dropping lyricism. R.E.K.S. advances along, giving you an hour long album of perfectly selected tracks from each producer. This is an album that instantly sticks in your head. It makes you excited to get in your car and cruise, jammin' out Type: ILL. Reks balances head nodding beats with intelligent rhymes. He manages to be a lyricists' lyricist, while also crafting catchy hooks and verses. I have a feeling this is going to be Reks' breakout album.

Where "Grey Hairs" and "Along Came The Chosen" flawed, R.E.K.S. excels. Although those were both great albums, the beats seemed uninspired at times. This album was clearly scrutinized under microscope to pick and choose the proper beats.

With a few tracks carefully selected to highlight other emcees and singers, the album is not overthrown by guest spots. It is a 'REKS' album, with features including Termanology, Lil Fame of M.O.P., Freeway and Styles P, and various singers contributing choruses throughout.

Mixing and engineering on this album was done particularly well. A solid full sound with thick lows and crisp highs. No overbearing frequency/equalization or compression issues. The album has a rich sound beginning to end and causes no listening fatigue. Great engineering. The editing and arrangement is also done extremely well. The songs are not just a continuous loop.

Heard this album on Youtube and have got it coming in the mail as I write this. The east coast is making a come back and Reks is in that mix. This is true, concious rap in the purest form. Reks is so skillful with his word play and rhymes. He's a Boston version of Nas. There's that 90s sound to this album that takes you back to your younger days when rap was fun and creative. The biggest money makers in rap these days are Lil Wayne, Drake, and Pitbull and all they talk about is money, sex, and drugs. I just think that its refreshing when you have a truly talented MC who has something to say that is worth listening to. I definitely recommend this album to anybody who wants to hear something with substance.

In a time when most hip hop artists lack subject matter and resolve in trash talking about their sexual exploits, their latest treads, the 50 inch rims on their cars, or how much jewelry they own, it's refreshing to finally hear from an artist on the REAL side of the tracks. Reks is a true student of the artform and it shows. This album is pure FIRE!! There are no other words to explain the wealth of hip hop goodness Reks has presented to us here, every single track is blazing. I rated it 4 stars for 2 reasons only. (1). The Pete Rock produced track (Thin Line)could've been a little tighter (production-wise). The drum track sounded a bit dated (not sure if it was intentional) but I feel that a producer of Pete's caliber should've brought the type caliber beats we're used to from him, especially when you have the same caliber of artist on the track. This was not so. I did however love the body of the track, and ofcourse Reks killed it. (2). I'm just a stingy guy when it comes to awarding stars (lol). This album is the best hip Hop album thus far in 2011, and if you think otherwise you should go get a total DNA transplant because you're not human. The last/bonus track on the album (Like A Star) almost made me piss on myself and has brought Statik to the lime light as another dope producer on the rise without a doubt. Reks has my full respect (which is not easy to earn), and I thank him for keeping hip hop alive.

This is a great album, there's not one track you would skip. As great as "Grey Hairs" was, R.E.K.S. is even better. The production is terrific and Reks is on fire from the first track right through to the last. BUY this album, you wont regret it. Support Reks and Showoff Records.
