This is a good caliper with only a few small flaws from my perspective.

The good qualities
- It seems pretty strong, made of steel
- It is accurate, or at least as accurate as my other caliper

The negative qualities
- There is a little grease/oil which will come off after some use
- The slide is a little stiff
- There is no fractional inches (but I knew this before buying so I won't lower my rating because of this)

All in all I would recommend this caliper.
just know what you need and what caliper does and does not have.

Horrible calipers. I do precision woodworking and have been using calipers daily for the last decade. I've been using the same couple pairs for years and years...not high end, maybe $40 import calipers but they work well. Ordered a few more to spread around so I wouldn't always be walking across the shop to get them.
The Tekton ones I ordered were noticably lighter than the older sets I have and felt looser overall. The real problem though is accuracy. As soon as I started using them I started getting a ton of little errors in my work. Took me a while to realize it, but the Tekton calipers are so loose and have so much slop in the mechanism that the results are inconsistent by as much as five thousandths.
Long story short I chucked them in the trash and went back to my old trustworthy ones. I'd avoid these if thousandths matter to you.

Initial review: Received with no visible damage. Bought this to replace one I accidentally dropped and have doubts about. Feels gritty when turning the wheel and seems to stick in spite of loosening the knurled lockscrew above the dial. Metal sliding strip is slightly bowed in the middle. Made in China, what isn't. May be usable but I can't recommend it.

Later: Seller contacted me and addressed my concerns. They were very courteous and helpful, and provided a replacement within a few days which was in perfect working order. I give the product four stars for the manufacturer's lax quality control, but the seller gets five stars for excellent service and customer care.

Case was broken on delivery, but its still functional. Like many of the reviews I read prior the calipers have a pretty rough slide action. I am hoping that some tool oil will help fix this coupled with time. They still feel pretty solid and with a quick measurement test I got three consistent results in a row, not more than .00025-.0005 different.

All in all though I am happy with cost vs quality of these, less the crack in the case on arrival.

I will update if anything changes.

I want to preface this by stating something that should be obvious, bus some reviewers still seem to overlook. This is a $26 Caliper! It is in no way meant to compete with more expensive, higher quality calipers that are on the market. That being said, this caliper provides an amazing value for the price. It is an excellent entry level set, or for keeping as a backup.,The only qualm I have with it is that in some places, the fit and finish does not reflect what it should be for the price. There are un-broken edges and un-trimmed burrs all over the thing. That being said, this is still recommended.

The calipers were pretty grimy in the slides when I got it. You'll have to take it apart and clean the slides for everything to run smoothly. That said, I did use them and they were accurate enough for my needs.

Original: Not as good as I thought it would be. I've had good luck with Tekton, but this tool is just ok, nothing great. But, for the price you can't expect much. Case was broken when I received it. I wouldn't have bought it if I had seen it first.

Update: Tekton does stand by their products. I first gave a 3 star review and then I had a reply from Russ about contacting him about a replacement. So, I did reply and I was given a brand new caliper. This time the case was in perfect shape and the dial was in better shape. I must have got a returned item or one that was just defective.

I wanted a caliper that was in inches and not digital. Digital readers tend to get wonky at lower charges, before it's obvious the battery is going. Inches because of better factoring, especially into factors with a higher radix economy than 5 has. I don't like that the dial is base 10 (you read 0.125 for 1/8). Base 12, 60, or dyadic (most prefered) marks would have been preferable. Still, these seem pretty well built, and are easy to calibrate. I compared to some highly precise stock, and didn't find any measurable error (any that existed would be past 0.000 precision).
