Okay, you may ask why I gave it 4 stars. Here's why ... When I finally got it installed and fired it up for the first time, the LCD display panel was crooked and one side was higher then the other. This looked terrible! On top of that, I had to disassemble my Silverstone case and remove the module, take it apart and straighten the board inside. Hopefully for other buyers of this module, they won't have any issues with it. Mine could have just been a fluke that passed quality control without testing it first.

After fixing it myself, this module is really nice. The remote is very functional and the joypad controller works great. I like that it's pressure sensitive and the more you press in any direction, the faster the cursor moves. It's a handy remote and the HTPC is paired with a Logitech K400 wireless keyboard/trackpad.

This thing works amazingly well beyond expectation, given it's such an old product. I installed it in a custom-built computer running Windows 10, it simply works. Without installing its software, you can already turn it on/off using remote. What's more, this thing works with Logitech Harmony controls - It takes a while to it work with the Harmony though - the built-in commands of turning on/off didn't work for me, so I had to use the Harmony's teach a command function to make it work, and the teaching process itself takes quite some time, you need to repeat it lots of times for it to pick up the command.

The downside of the product is the shipped cables are relatively short. If you'll arrangement in the computer case doesn't really fit, you might have to order extension cables. Both 2-pin and 3-pin cables are needed, and I was able to find both on Amazon with Prime shipping. The 2-pin cable just fits, whereas the 3-pin cable, you'll need to modify the head a little bit (basically just cutting of some plastic piece to make it able to connect with the existing cable).

Overall this is the only product I found that could enable remote on/off for your desktop computer, and it's appearance is also nice, and most importantly, it works with Logitech Harmony (I'm using Harmony Ultimate).

This item is interesting, it is very nice for an HTPC, but it does have some limitations..

I spent a while trying to get it to work, it requires the imon software on the non-media center remote setting. It works pretty well but has short range, the LCD screen also will occasionally look weird and remains that way until I actually shut the power supply down to purge all voltage for a few minutes, simple reboot or shutdown doesn't kill all the power to it. This issue has only happened twice in 3 months so not too terribly upsetting but it is annoying. Connecting and routing the wiring through the drive bay was also a bit of a pain but most HTPCs are designed for smaller fit so that is pretty normal.

There are not a ton of alternatives in this market space, I paired it with GD01 aluminum case and it looks great, kind of inconvenient to have the drawer down but I still think it looks and functions better than their case with essentially the same display/receiver put in a hole on the left side instead since I can close the right side and hide the display and optical drive completely.

Overall it has added some interesting and fun features to my HTPC and if you are on the fence about it you might as well get it.

Here is something you might consider before purchasing this item, it DOES NOT fit in a 5.25 bay as advertised. I purchased the item along with a Silverstone Tek GD08B Aluminum Extended ATX / SSI-EEB compatible / SSI-CEB HTPC Computer Case Cases. I purchased this case in particular because it has two 5.25 bays, and I intended to use one bay for a blue ray player that I also purchased on Amazon. Well I started putting my build together yesterday and while the SilverStone Aluminum Front Panel 5.25-Inch Multimedia System with LCD Display MFP51S fits a 5.25 bay internally, however the opening in the case that holds a 5.25 cd/dvd/blueray players is way to small to accommodate the "5.25 LCD display.. I guess I made the silly assumption that just because it's advertised as being installable in any 5.25 computer bay that the advertising was accurate. It isn't, now I have a wonderful display sitting on my storage shelves. How thrilled I am that I paid good money to decorate my work room.
