When I first started brewing I did it entirely in plastic buckets. It was fine, not terribly excitng, but convenient because the bucket has a handle to carry your brew. Then I switched to glass carboys. Well I remember the first time I went to move 5.5 gallons of my freshly fermented necter of the Gods and thinking my spine was actually going to leave my body and run for the hills.

There is no good way to move a giant glass bottle filled with nearly 35 pounds of liquid and brew-sludge. Add the weight of the carboy itself and you're looking at nearly 50 pounds.

The Brew Hauler fixes this problem by adding two well-reenforced handles to your carboy making moving your sweet brew much easier. Anyone who has dropped their carboy, full or not, on their foot will (after swearing quite vehemently for several minutes) sing the praises of this device. Well worth the cost no matter how much you pay for it. I have 2 6.5 gallon carboys and it fits perfectly but it is adjustable to fit even my 3 gallon. Just remember to put the Brew Hauler on your carboy BEFORE you fill it up. Wives are strange creatures and don't especially appreciate trying to slip the thing on while you're wrestling with a sloshing bottle of beer after you've forgotten to put it on before you started brewing.

I was finishing a brew day, shuffling my carboys around, and snap the strap broke. I think it should be made better than this. The sowing on the straps is what broke. I dropped a full carboy.

I am up dating my review,,I emailed brewhauler and said your strap broke. They sent me a new strap and a check for the carboy. I don't think this could happen much if this is how they deal with it. I am changing my review from one star to 4 because they did the wright thing and I think they are good guys..

I have three and they are very handy. They also help keep my temperature probe against the carboys.
The price for one and shipping is pretty good.
The only drawback here is they are ripping us a new one on multiple orders.
I was going to buy three more but when I saw the shipping was multiplied three times that was a deal breaker. Almost $15.00 shipping for three items that weight about as much as a heavy letter? Give me a break!
I hate it when retailers stick it to you with shipping.

the Item received is not an offical brewhaulter as picutred. I have an offical brewhauler with the white lettering. I just received mine it does not have this lettering and it is slightly smaller ( does not go as high up the carboy) than the real hauler. It works just fine but Just an FYI to anyone outer there this is not exactly as pictured.

If you brew your own beer/wine/mead this is a must have. Glass carboys are heavy on their own, add 5+ gallons of beer and they are dangerous. In comes the Brew Hauler! It makes it much more reliable and SAFE to move your fermenter. I feel this is much better than the carboy handles that put all the strain on the neck of the carboy. Just install the Brew Hauler BEFORE you fill your fermenter, that makes life easier.

My LHBS was selling these for $18, thankfully they are much cheaper here on Amazon. I bought a couple extra for future expansion of my brewing capacity.

This does make moving carboys easier and safer than a handle but it could use some improvement. I would like a second adjustable "beltline" down lower to keep the straps underneath in place. However, I would buy them again, so I give them 3 stars..

This carboy hauler isn't exactly as pictured. I bought it because I thought it would have the three pronged side release straps, as is pictured. It doesn't come like that though. Instead of a side release, it has a flip front release. At first this was no big deal, until I was carrying a carboy and the latch on the front release caught on my clothes and released my brand new carboy all over a cement floor, costing me about $40 for a new carboy. I think they should at least change their picture to reflect what kind of release mechanism they are using.

Dont trust this with your carboy. My attempt to lift this less than 3 feet ended in me losing a carboy, a $50 batch of IIPA, and slicing my toe open. Works great until there is any weight in the fermenter.
