I bought this recently to replace a dual receptacle on my front deck. It was easy to install, just a bit of caulking, wiring, and screwing and it was done in ten minutes. It works perfectly, comes on every time my dog walks out the door. Plus, it uses less electricity than the old one. Replacement bulbs are cheaper too. I'll definitely buy this baby again.

Not a bad light, easy install, good sensor. BUT aiming the mount is done in the usual way with one axis (roll) at the actual mounting plate and the other (elevation) done at the knuckle behind the lamp itself. So if it is aimed at an oblique angle the lamp head ends up rotated considerably, which would be fine except the tag for the lightbulb itself says it must be level to +_4 degrees. That means the light must be aimed almost straight out from the wall it's on to minimize rotation. That is a really severe limitation unless that direction happens to light up what you want.

Before I made my purchase, I read many reviews at Amazon on this and on similar products. Many reviewers complained that the light bulb did not last very long, in some cases not even a week. So I decided to wait for at least four months before writing this review. I am happy to report that the light bulb is still going strong, although I must admit that it was not subjected to very heavy use.

To summarize: it works as advertised, and it works well. No complaints about that. But the installation is a different story. When I got the light fixture out of its packaging and climbed my ladder to install it on the side of the house, I discovered that the assembly had a very narrow angle by which it can be installed. (The light fixture has to be located above the sensor, and the flexible ball joints that both use are not that flexible: the angle of rotation is rather narrow at about 20 degrees maximum.) To make it worse, the assembly requires a bracket with screw holes at 45 degree angle with the vertical (or horizontal.) My wall bracket requires horizontal assembly (which is 90% of all cases, I believe.) If I rotated the whole assembly by 45 degrees before installing it, then I could not align the ball joints so that it was vertical. In the end, I had to go to my local hardware store and purchase a special bracket which installs as a piggy back on the existing wall bracket and which effectively rotates this product by 30 degrees. Even though that was less than 45 degrees, it was sufficient for a reasonably good (but not perfect) installation. Because of the extra bracket, the fit on the wall was also less than perfect, and I had to carefully caulk and seal the electric box before finishing the installation.

I recommend that you check your electric box before buying this product. If it is horizontal (or vertical), you may want to avoid this one unless you are willing to do extra work. Otherwise go for it. It is very good!

My only real issue with this light is the original generic brand bulb lasted about a month. So I can tack on another $5 to the cost of mine for the additional bulb. The new bulb is Sylvania, so hopefully it will last a couple years. Yes, I know not to touch the bulb and I wore latex gloves.

Other than the bulb, the light is pretty decent at detecting movement consistantly. I feel it provides security and that's why I bought it.

Construction quality is fair and the unit works mostly as designed. This is not a super bright light if you are looking to find contact lenses on the pavement at night, but 150 watts is 150 watts and that's what you get. And actually I did not want it to be super because as a result of it being to sensitive, it comes on when it is very windy and probably detects movement in my Arbor Vitaes that line my drive. I do have it set to a low sensitive and have decided I can live with the occasion hiccup. Works well as a standard light. Flip off and back on and it stays on. Toggle again and it goes back to its movement sensing mode. You can pay a lot more for the same product and still get the same quality and operation. Recommend.

The lights work great but be prepared to replace the original bulbs within a short time. I purchased and installed 3 of these lights and within 30 days all three bulbs were bad. I purchased replacement bulbs from Amazon and both bulbs were bad (one broken and one a broken filament). I suggest you purchase the bulbs locally (so you don't have to hassle with a return) and add the cost of a replacement bulb to this item.

Product arrived in timely manner.
Product was as advertized.
I had a professional electrician install the light on my front porch area.

He had one problem with an included mounting screw that was too short.
He was able to supply a substitute screw.
The mounting box is a bit non-fitting.
I will need to putty around the gap between wall and light box.

In my case, I live in a windy area and have a large tree with low branches near the porch.
When the wind blows, the moving branches cause the light to go on.

I really like the fact the light can be overridden by the wall switch.
Good product at a reasonable price.

A Word of Caution: I did not realize how sensitive these new types of light bulbs are.
Unless you are having a professional install the light, be careful handling the bulb.
My electrician put on a glove to touch the bulb as bare fingers will cause it to fail.
