CMT is usually known for better quality stuff, so I was disappointed when I got this Forstner bit. These issues may not matter if you're just boring holes in 2x4s, but if you're doing any kind of fine work they are quite serious.

Background: I use Forstner bits to quickly bore blind and through holes in plastic parts on an engine lathe.

The cutting edges on this bit are ground poorly. One wing is about .005" deeper than another, and all the cutting is done on that one longer side. Second, there were burrs all over the place on this bit. I had to touch it up with a flat diamond hone in order to take care of those. Finally, it was about .002" undersized. It may not sound like much, but the dimensions are critical.

All in all, not good. Unfortunately, metric Forstners are hard to find in the USA.
