Whoever designed this... is WONDERFUL!!! I would happily kiss their feet.

Why, you wonder, for something that seems so ordinary and generic and uninteresting? Most people picking one of these up casually have NO IDEA how wonderful this particular gadget is.

Most of us have used outlet strips to try to plug in all those little power blocks that supply power to our various low-wattage electronic gadgetry. The problem is that the power blocks each typically block multiple other adjacent outlets on the power strip, so that a strip with six or eight (or even more) outlets might actually only accommodate two (or maybe three) power blocks.

What is BRILLIANT on these particular adapters is that when you get several of these, and plug them in in a row, each one turns 90 degrees relative to the block you plug it into... and the sockets on the two sides are also 180 degrees opposed... so three of these units in a row allow me to plug in 7 power blocks.

I'll try to add a picture so you get the idea, but trust me... I've bought nine of these so far, and just LOVE them!!!

(Even most of the other reviews here haven't seemed to have figured this part out!!)

I wasted several minutes reading reviews and comparing this unit to others, when I should have just thrown it in the cart.

Works great. Picture doesn't show it, but the plug is three prong and the grounding prong is on the bottom of the item as pictured. Third plug follows the pattern of the first two, so you wouldn't be able to use the unit with three bulky chargers (though you could fit two chargers and a small plug). Small and nicely durable for travel, as other reviews have mentioned -- if you're always looking for a free outlet in a cafe or airport, bring this along and create your own!

This smart little plug works well, converting one outlet plug into three. Just pay attention to the orientation of the three female plugs around the device relative to the male plug to make sure that it will work for you, if you have transformers or other plugs that take up more space.

UPDATE:
A year-and-a-half later, and these are still working great. In fact, I bought a few more on Amazon when they went on sale again.

...is how I found this plug. While it works fine, I didn't like the way that the side plugs were oriented to the plug on the unit itself. The ground aperture on the side plug is on the side towards the wall and the outlet. So any cord that you plug into it would have to bend sharply at the wall. If it was possible, I think that it would be better for the ground aperture to be on the side 'away' from the wall. I'm only using one of the plugs on the unit (the top one) so it doesn't matter to me at this time, but it might in the future.

Performs as advertised. All three plugs worked. I have an outlet that (oddly) only has one socket, and this was a great way to use more electronics in that area.

Note that it's a 3-prong device, so it wouldn't be the right purchase if you specifically need a 2-pronged one. Other than that you basically get exactly what you're looking at.

This is the single best travel accessory/coffee shop studying accessory I have purchased. It's cheap, compact, and does what it's supposed to do. Don't bother looking at the bulkier and pricier Belkin adapters with USB ports. The placement of the sockets on three separate faces also helps with oversized chargers. This is the best way to get that laptop, cell phone, and iPad all charged simultaneously while waiting for that darn delayed flight at the airport. It's also handy for getting someone to share that highly coveted outlet with you at the local coffee shop with free Wi-Fi!

The adapter is nothing out of the ordinary. It works well, although I have yet to try and plug in more than one plug into this.

The adapter is in a squished cube shape, and it's "squished" from top and bottom so that the adapter would not intrude the other slot above/below the one it is occupying. It has three sockets, all in sideways alignment (as seen in the picture). There are no top (obviously) or bottom (not so obvious) plugs.

It is built reasonably well. I must say that it does not feel like the sturdiest thing out there, but I would be hard pressed to find one that is nowadays anyway, when cutting cost is the name of the game. Plus while the input plug (to wall) feels a little wobbly, it's no biggie.

So, it works, it's holding itself together, and price wasn't too bad. Five stars.

This compact adapter works fine but I was only able to get ONE out of three sets of holes to fit properly. I've tried every combination of different types of plugs into different holes and two of them just won't allow me to push them all the way in. Still works but looks sloppy and could potentially be dangerous since we use it by the bathroom sink.

Ironically, it comes with instructions stating not to use this product unless plugs are all the way in flush.
