We purchased two of these crates for our 60 lb dogs over 2 months ago. The 42" size is quite large, in fact, both dogs can sleep comfortably together in one. The crates are like cozy, mini tents and my husband and I joke that we'd like to sleep in them. They are very light to move around, and easy to fold up or down.

We've had two problems. One is that our newest dog (a year old puppy) chewed through one of the zippers within the first week. We solved that problem with some training, and we still use the crate with that opening against the wall. So obviously not for chewers.

The second problem is the most concerning for me. Other people have mentioned the smell... I can't state this strongly enough - these crate smell like a petroleum product. We initially had the crates in our great room, and sure enough the smell seemed to go away after a few weeks. We recently moved the crates into our bedroom and discovered that in fact, they do still smell. Strongly enough that I'm concerned about the effect on our dogs overtime. We usually don't zipper the doors anymore, so the dogs can come and go as they please and they are still choosing to go in their crates (like I said earlier - cozy!). But the smell bothers me, so I can imagine how it must bother the dogs who have a much more keen sense of smell.

The prices on these crates keep going down (other websites sold them a while back retail for $180) so I would imagine that they are aware of the smell problem....

I just received this 42" crate and my 72 lb Golden Retriever is already asleep in it. Many people commented on the smell and I came close to not buying it because of those reviews. There is a new plastic smell to it but obviously it doesn't bother my dog since she's sleeping in it now. I do plan to air it out for a few days to see if the smell will go away but if it doesn't I'm not too concerned about it. The crate is lightweight and really easy to set up. You won't be disappointed if you purchase this crate.

Go to any AKC obedience dog show trial. You see more NOZTONOZ crates than any other soft sided crate, especially among the more experienced handlers. There is a reason for this. My personal experience with the crate over the past two years participating in numerous dog obedience trials is all positive. The crate is easy to transport, it is simple to assemble and take down, it is sturdy, and it presents a professional appearance. I am delighted with this product.

Great crate for our golden puppy. He slept in it every night until very recently.

Easy setup, and very durable. Our boy is a chewer, and he's given up trying to chew on this crate.

Seemed very large when we first got it, but now his paws brush the sides/back when he stretches out. He's about 7 months old and 55 lbs, so is not yet fully grown. You might want to consider the 42 inch model if you have a dog that will grow to 70+ lbs.

I can't explain any more plainly than to say that my 1+ year old Beagle/Jack Russel will inhabit this home. He walked into it of his own accord, and prefers it to nesting other places when he wants to rest in peace... ;-) When I recommend this, I am coming from a position of having him separate a hard crate in order to escape, no kidding.. he HATED the plastic kennel... However, this provides a space to rest, and the extra openings, when you un-zip the side and top, create a nest area that is not "trap" like in it's feeling, and with all the open sides, a place my pup feels safe in, but not trapped! Thanks!!

I bought this crate for traveling with my crate-happy 70 pound Old English Sheepdog/Pit Bull mix, Hudson. We often stay in hotels and lugging a regular crate with me was getting to be a pain.
Somewhat concerned about the smell everyone talked about in the reviews, I was prepared to air it out awhile before using it.
True, when I opened the box, there was that "new car" type smell, or maybe more like "new plastic". However--as planned-- I opened it up, left it on the porch for a few days, then in a spare room for another week or so and now there is virtually no odor at all (unless you're trying hard to find it).

So while it took awhile for that plastic smell to blow off, it really wasn't anything worse than I'd expect from any item made with so much petroleum content.

I recommend this crate for well-trained dogs who are comfortable and happy in their crates. It folds down simply, is very portable and light, and it stores easily under a bed or in the trunk of a car. It is quite sturdy and I expect it to last for many, many trips. The added benefit of being able to fold it down and carry it wherever it's needed makes the purchase completely worthwhile.

Just order it ahead of time and let it air out before use. It's still the best travel crate I've found!

The crate is easy to assemble and very nice looking. The material is quite week and the stitching isn't very strong. Our dog scratched his way through the actual side material, not the mesh, in 5 minutes. $99 wasted unfortunately.

I bought these crates for my Sheltie puppies. Having had dogs for the past 30 years, I have owned all kinds of dog crates, and these are by far my favorites. They are sturdy and attractive (for dog crates), fold down small enough to be handy for travel, and are easy to fold and unfold. One of my favorite features is the door on top, which is so convenient for puppies--much easier to put them in and out this way than to crawl on the floor reaching into the back of the crate. Also, two side doors mean that the crates have easy access wherever they are placed in the room or the car.

My dogs aren't heavy chewers, so I can't speak for how well these would hold up for big dogs that chew, but they seem very sturdy, and have withstood plenty of scratching from the inside without showing wear. I expect to be using them for many years to come.

UPDATE MARCH 2013: Still using these for our Shelties. Perfect traveling crates, easy to fold up in the trunk of the car and set up in hotel rooms. Have recommended to all our friends with puppies and get great feedback from them, too. Still our favorite crates by far, still holding up well after many trips.
