1.0 out of 5 stars If i can only give 1/3 of a star., December 30, 2009
Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
First off, I own the first xbox, that one, made rings of death on one of my fave movies in my collection. It really pissed me off. I wanted to hulk smash the black/green console with a sledge hammer I have in my basement. This happened after I knew about about "the red ring of death" that plagued the new xbox. But I didn't, I have a huge library of xbox games, and so, for sentimental reasons, I simply did not use my xbox for six months. Played my ps2 and on occasion the gamecube, which those by the way never gave me any trouble. Superb systems if not graphically, but in many ways in craftsmanship, the ps2 or the gamecube will literally last you forever which is more than what I can say for microsoft's xbox. It is all the same whether you buy a new xbox, xbox arcade, pro and even elite.. it all comes down to one thing, more repair expenses straight out of your pocket. And this is all for the more inferior system. Cmon, battery operated infrared controllers, ancient man, who needs that. I'd say just get a ps3 and rid yourself of that cursed predetermined fate all xbox owners have. Plus, You could be using all those repair money for more important things(charity for example). Although, Iam not buying any of the new systems, because my gaming days are limited nowadays, but comin from a guy who used to play a lot of games sony ps3 or nintendo wii will never fail you unless you drop them on a tub of boiling acid. What's the chances of that happening? Anyways, for the guy, below who is a " true xbox fan". The feeling is mutual buddy.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great console, when it works..., August 28, 2009

Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
I had a great time playing this console and video game system. The wireless controls are easy to use and if you have rechargeble batteries they last a few days.

The graphics are fantastic (if the right games are played). Gears of War, Dead Space, Mass Effect, etc. And the sound is awesome.

I've gotten some great use out of this console and my experiences were all positive until a few days ago. I've used this system for just over 2 years and it finally broke!

It's called the "Red Ring of Death". I think every XBox will eventually get one that was manufactured in the last two yeras. I waited until AFTER first launch and until they worked some bugs out to buy this system. And it just stopped working...

I am VERY upset by this and very let down. As I have friends who bought a PS3 and are still enjoying it today...

I did check the Microsoft website and they are covering my repairs under warranty. But I'm out of an XBox for atleast a few weeks while it gets shipped to Texas for repairs.

And I'm reading reviews of problems after thier consoles have been repaired. I am not happy with Microsoft or the XBox right now.

If I knew they would produce an expensive product that simply shorts out after 2 years of safe and moderate use, I would have bought the Sony PS3 instead.

1.0 out of 5 stars 3 Rings of Death - not once, but TWICE, October 18, 2009
Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
Got the 3 Rings after less than a year worth of use.
Microsoft covers that error for three years, but it was nearly a month-long wait for the return. Then, after 6 months use, it got the error again. This time, they wouldn't cover it because it was a week past the 3 year period - they count it from the date the xbox was built. Ugh. Waste of money.

If you're going to get an xbox, might as well get one from a kid who's already repaired one (or who can) and get ixtreme 1.6 on it to get your money's worth with some copied games.

Screw the bad engineering on the 360's.
Evil.
