I have this product on Subscribe and Save auto-delivery and I use it regularly for myself, my husband, and our 18 month old son. I use it along with Herbs for Kids Echinacea & Astragalus, and I find the combination to be very effective in reducing the length and severity of illnesses.

I began using this product on my son when he was 15 months old. Since he was six months old, he suffered from acute asthma-like symptoms when he would get sick. He was on several different nebulized and oral medications during these periods of time. Between illnesses, he had no asthma-like symptoms and was completely healthy. Since he was in daycare, there was no escaping frequent respiratory illnesses. It got to the point that whenever he would develop even a slight runny nose (due to teething, etc), it would eventually settle into his chest and turn into a wheezing episode. I hated HATED HATED the nebulizer. He hated it. Seeing all of the medication syringes in the sink made me sick. I looked for products that could help me proactively address this issue and I found Sambucus through Amazon. There were too many positive reviews for me not to try it. I did not buy the children's version, but this adult version.

I started giving my son one 5 mL dose every day as a preventative treatment. When he got the sniffles or showed any other signs of something developing, I started an acute dose of 5 mL twice to three times a day. I also give him (daily) 1 mL of the Echinacea + Astragalus at least twice a day. I put the Echinacea in his milk (it tastes like a mild sweet tea). He will drink the Sambucus right out of a dropper; however, it is dark, dark purple and will stain faces and clothes (think tastes and looks like grape juice). So, I mix it into a serving of plain, unsweetened yogurt.Read more ›

So, I found this at my local grocery store just browsing the organic section. "Virologist Tested" it said. Huh... in my basic knowledge of sicknesses, colds and influenza were viruses, right? Might as well buy this as a preemptive measure, though it was extremely expensive ($18/4oz?! wow) to buy locally.

Turns out, a few weeks later, I would start feeling the effects of a cold. I immediately began taking this Sambucus at its intensive doses (4 times a day while sick, 1 time a day while healthy as a defense mechanism) of 4 times a day. By the next day, I was already beginning to feel significantly better, but that might've been a fluke, right?

One of my close friends also noted to me that she woke up one morning feeling sick. She went over some of the symptoms and it sounded very similar to the flu, so I brought her some of this Sambucus. She would be my second guinea pig to try this. In less than three days, she said she was at 79% health (hey, that was her report), so I began to really trust this thing. By the third day, she was completely healthy. I started recommending this to everyone and have had reported success with every single person so far. Great stuff! Best to probably buy this at Amazon as I suspect it may be much more expensive at your local grocer.

The picture was Sambucol when I purchased the product. I got Sambucus. I was worried and called up the 1-800 number to inquire about the origin of the syrup. There is no origin anywhere on the label or the box. It just says distributed by Nature Way's. Nature Way's told me that the origin country of the syrup is propriatory and cannot be disclosed to customers. What???? My gut feeling is that this stuff is being Made in China and that's why they are hiding this fact. It would not be prudent to buy anything related to healthcare or to consume from China at this time due to low universal addherence to quality and safety. I am returning the syrup.

I can see now that the picture shows the correct product and it is stated that the product is made in USA. I am glad that they corrected their ad to reflect the nature of the product and I am giving this 2 more stars. I will give it a try again to see if "Made in USA" is now on the bottle. From 2011 to 2013, things change! My biggest concern is when makers hide the origin of the products.

Natures way has changed their formula, be sure to check the label for the actual gram count, natures way actually improved their sambucus product by almost doubling the gram count of the actual elderberry extract. natures way does not sell Sambucol anymore, the new formula is listed as Sambucus, notice the ol is replaced by us. i actually contacted natures way and they gave me a great reason/answer as to why the change. so beware of what u are ordering because the label might be different from the actual heading on the product order page on amazon. the sambucol has a 3.8 grams of the actual extract, the new formula has 6.4 grams. There is a co. that sells the syrup under the name sambucol "original formula" by sambucolusa. that also has the 3.8 grams and has an overly fermented berry taste...i sent it back. the new natures way sambucus "original syrup" has a very good flavor with more per gram of the actual berry extract. bottom line...read your labels carefully and the pics in amazons adds might not reflect what u are getting...do your homework...hope this helps..THIS STUFF DOES WORK.
