Dry feet!

This product works as advertised. The cleaning gel does a great job getting impregnated dirt & grime out of the leather. This step clears the way for the wax, which deeply penetrates into the grain. The leather soaked up the wax almost as fast as it had been soaking up water before. Keep your feet dry!

Product Update:
Still working from my original purchase here. I use this product on my Red Wing workboots. Few things to consider here, I live in Alaska, the rainy part, and use these boots 40-60 hours a week in a harsh, rainy, icy, salt water exposed environment. Aside from stepping in water a little too deep a couple of times my feet are always dry at the end of an 8-12 hour day. A lot of that credit goes to goretex lining but a lot also can be attributed to this product. Co-workers don't seem to have much awareness of water proofing products, they choose to suffer, but for what little I have invested in this product I have been rewarded with dry feet for years! Amazing! Never had the same results with silicone or other wax products.

And yes, it may change the appearance of your leather a little, but do you really care? If your leather boots get soaking wet and dry out they will crack, stain etc. This is not about a fashion statement people!

Excellent waterproofer

Great stuff! I put this on my leather "waterproof" motorcycle boots that had developed some cracks and would leak. I also put this on my "waterproof" leather gloves. The boots used to leak through in the toe area during heavy rain and the gloves would get waterlogged after any significant time in rain. After carefully applying the cleaner and waterproofer following the directions (very easy), they both came through unscathed in a ride in heavy rain. My feet were totally dry. What amazed me the most was the gloves. I figured it would slow the saturation a bit, but they stayed totally dry inside. It was amazing. I'm not sure how long it lasts, but it sure works! There are a lot of seams on the gloves, as you'd expect, and the membrane that is supposed to waterproof them is between the leather shell and inner liner. Water would immediately begin to soak into the leather before this treatment. Very impressed with how well the Nikwax works. The waterproofer soaked in nicely and didn't seem to leave any residue. It has a sort of waxy feel, but it doesn't rub or scrape off. It smells a little, but not bad. I applied it outside, which is probably best. I'm not sure how bad it would be indoors. After it dries, it doesn't smell. I must say I'm VERY impressed with this and completely satisfied with the performance at this point. We'll see how long it lasts. I'll be getting more when I run out.

seemed to do the job

I had just experienced a little water seeping through my 10-year-old Lowa hiking boots when I started searching for a waterproofing product, and this product seemed to be the best bet. (There were not as many options as I thought there would be.) I followed the instructions (but I sure wish the instructions had been in larger print!) and the next time I went out I deliberately splashed through lots of puddles and my feet stayed warm and dry.

Don't see a difference

I got a pair of brand new boots dusty on a dry trail. I cleaned 1 with the cleaning gel and a damp cloth as per instructions and just wiped of the other and can't tell the difference they are both still dirty.

The great thing about Nikwax products is that you can put ...

The great thing about Nikwax products is that you can put the waterproofing on wet materials. In fact, that's how it is meant to be applied. So,if you're on a 50 mile hike,and your boots start to wet out, break out the Nikwax. Now,as far as rock solid waterproofing goes, I don't think anything beats SnoSeal. But,with that being said, Nikwax doesn't compromise the leather and make it so a new sole wont adhere. Also, its the recommended products for many of the best ski/snowboard apparel companys! They have tons of products too. Great company!

Best for Goretex Leather Boots

This is great stuff. Goes on easily and quickly. Stays on all season in a suburban environment. Asolo boots, sneakers, dress shoes, etc. I have used about everything that is out there over the years and this is the best. Need to check the "use by" expiration date on the can and sure the product doesn't expire too quickly after purchasing.

I guess I used this too soon, aside from changing the color of my leather gore-tex Timberland boots I don't know what else it did for it. Will have to update once I get some wear on the boots and see what good it does.
