The handle on my original work bowl had started to break, so I went looking for a replacement rather than a whole new food processor. I was sad to see that KitchenAid no longer makes this 12-cup processor, as it's a great machine. So, I was very pleased to find the perfect replacement still available. It's got a red strip in the handle, and so it matches my red base unit perfectly. The only issue I had was that I though at first the new bowl would not fit the base. On close inspection, I noticed that there is a little dimple on the bottom that is part of the locking mechanism that was jutting out, and I could not get it to retract. By accident, I decided to check the fit of the top, and when I turned the top on to lock, this little 'dimple' retracted. It now fits perfectly on the base, and the top fits perfect;y as well. Much better to replace the work bowl for a few dollars than cough up over $100 for a new machine of lesser quality. I should be good to go for many years to come. Too bad KitchenAid doesn't make this machine anymore. It's vastly superior to their 'new and improved' model.

Perfect. I bought it as a replacement for the work bowl I had, where mold was growing inside the see through handle (it is a bad design for handle.) But I love the food processor, so nice not to have to replace that. Guess the answer is to not put the work bowl in dishwasher or immerse the handle in water. Now that I know, I can do that.

I am bummed because it doesn't exactly fit. I was trying to avoid getting a whole new one just because that part was icky, it got very gross and hard to clean so I bought this new one. But things now ooze out the sides. It is a one star situation.

Love my new KitcheAid 12-cup bowl. I was very pleased with the quick shipping. I have been without my food processor for about 4 months now because of a design flaw in the work bowl safety mechanism that is at the bottom of the handle. I wish that the color matched mine a little better, but that won't effect the function. I purchased my original unit from QVC and they had a maroon colored machine that can not be found anywhere. I would shop with your company again Thank you.
