Review:
We are having our first kid in May (2014) and we are re-doing a 130 sq ft bedroom. This unit replaced a very old baseboard heater from the 70s/80s. I bought this unit because it did not have a knob and we already had a thermostat.
Our electrician installed it (along with doing some other work for $85 a week ago) and it is controlled by a Honeywell programmable thermostat I had installed a few years ago. Luckily that Honeywell model had an advanced setting for "Fan" (Yes/No) so I could set it to Yes. On the No setting, the heater kicked on every time the thermostat had 1 heat wave symbol on the screen and then would kick back off in 5 seconds (since that is the setting for old baseboard heat). It was very annoying and i thought I was going to have to buy another thermostat, until I figured out the correct setting.
Anyway, It heats up very fast and there are no rattles, but I docked 1 star because it is not as quiet as I was hoping. Since the unit, and therefor the fan, is small, it has to spin fast to push out the heat. So it has this louder hum to it. We have a larger Fahrenheat in-wall unit (with built in thermostat) downstairs in my man cave that is pretty quiet (since the fan is larger), but that would have been too powerful for the little room we are re-doing. I just hope the baby will get used to it and that it won't cause any issues by waking the kid up when it kicks on.
