The lamp was easy to assemble. It came in a cube box weighing about 25 pounds by Fedex.

If you want uber modern without wanting to feel like you're in a Starship Captain's living room or the 1980s, this lamp is perfect.
This was my first "post Ikea 20something life" lamp purchase. I wanted a grown-up bachelorette pad that is very minimalist with only a few pieces with interesting details, everyone else sparse, with only one or spots of femininity. This lamp definitely is for those who want a Bahaus-styled living room.

It reminds me of the polar opposite (new science) of Restoration Hardware's Focault's Gyroscope lamp (dawn of early science), which is a chandelier, around metal gyroscope rings, which is over $1,500 and totally out of my budget range. At $170ish-$300 (Amazon's third party vendors sells it in more reasonable ranges than places elsewhere charging $300 for it).

The shade is actually metallic silver when the lamp is off, which looks great in living rooms of both men and women, because it looks like a stainless steel lamp with a stainless steel lampshade. I was concerned it wouldn't be bright or how proportioned it would be because I couldn't find photos of the lamp in a room vignette. It's very bright. Once the lamp is on, the shade turns opaque and has a greyish tinge with 12-silvery orbs and 12-light bulbs---it looks like a central atom bound to a 12-molecule membered ring floating in an opaque grey box.

The lamp shade does get hot really quickly. I had it on for 3 minutes and it was super hot already. If this lamp lasts without issues for a while, I'll get another floor lamp or a table lamp,to place on a clear acrylic side coffee table (like the ghost chair) or a mirrored Parsons end table.Read more ›

This is a very modern looking lamp. It looks silver more then dark and it is very reflective if it's not Lightened. The only complaint I have is that it looks very fragile, and I'm afraid that if you damage it on the cover it's going to be very noticeable. It also looks like the cover is easy to damage, as well as the little bulbs inside, and I am not sure of where to find them if I do damage them.

Like one other review, I feared that this lamp would be a bit "tacky", However, I really like it! The shade could be taken off easily if you want a different type of look. It offers 300 Watts of light, which brightens up the room. The only reason that I am giving it a 4 star is that the bulbs ARE difficult to find. It comes with 12 bulbs. The lamp takes 12- 25Watt G12 bulbs. I tried a G16 bulb and it works with the lamp. And, the latter are easier to find. It was also easy to assemble!

I bought this lamp on a whim, expecting that it may look a bit tacky, I was pleasantly surprised. It fits in well with modern rooms or more contemporary rooms. The chrome is definitely an accent piece, but does not overwhelm. The only issues that I can mention should be well known in advance. It uses 12 - 25W bulbs. So 300W total. The bulbs are not the easiest to find. So long as you know this in advance, you will not be disappointed.

This is FANTASTIC. I didn't think I'd really like it but I bought it simply because I like unique things in the universe. This is unique (and just looks like a silver lamp shade when light not on). It's really cool. Not sure what happens when you need new light bulbs (as per other reviews). Right now, it's a showstopper!

The lamp is as beautiful as in the picture...when switched on. The shade is very opaque, almost resembling aluminum foil and the interesting beauty of the lamp itself is completely obscured when the lamp is off. The dark color of the shade also makes the lamp give off dim light. Disappointing on both counts, as I expected this to be a very bright lamp with 12 25-watt bulbs. Additionally, the shade is made of a flimsy, filmy plastic that looks cheap. I was set to purchase matching floor lamps, but I won't even think of it unless I can come up with a replacement shade option that doesn't break the bank.

The coolest lamp ever. I'm in an apartment and I was tired of having no light. This lights up the whole room! Perfect. No more being in the dark or walking around a gloomy room. It's not too bright either, just a perfect balance. If you need light, it's definitely brightens a room. The lamp has a very chic look to it. The switch is in the chord and on the floor actually so all you do is step on it for on and off. I also like the chord is clear so less conspicuous. It's very modern, but it works in any kind of decor. I have tons of antiques and I was afraid it wouldn't work, but it fits right in with being a stylish silver. I use it everyday and since I work from home that's many hours all day long. I have had it a few months and I have not had to replace bulbs yet. Chic, stylish, unique purchase!

It is a great looking floor lamp. it attracts attention and a lot of compliments. One downside is that the shade can be damaged very easily, especially during assembling because nothing provides a clear warning that you have to be very very careful. The shade is a thin transparent plastic with a tint film on the inner side. I you touch that the tint side even with your finger nail, it will cause an unrepeatable scratch. I was lucky and didn't scratch it during install but after it all was put together, it was still noticeable that there were minor scrapes on the shade, probably caused by packing. My lamp is in the corner or the room, so I was able to find a "good" side of the shade.
I would still suggest the lamp as a good purchase if you keep in mind that you have to e very careful with it.
