This is a wonderful window film for letting light through, but I would not recommend it in a single layer only for a bathroom window because it does NOT blur details enough, even from a distance of 20 or so feet. However, I used it on a folding door with glass panes between two living areas, and found that putting one piece on each side of the glass produced the desired privacy with the maximum light transmission I wanted. Wish I'd known this sooner -- I would have ordered twice as much and saved on shipping. Probably couldn't put it on both sides of on an outdoor window though, and it's too textured to put one layer on top of another.

The directions said to moisten the window, apply the film, and then use the included squeegee to push the bubbles to the sides. The included, inexpensive squeegee lasted for about four out of twenty small panes, then started falling apart -- firm pressure plus the texture on this film tore the rubber up! However, pushing towards the sides with completely clean hands worked although it took longer. Just make sure your hands are squeaky clean, or you'll leave streaks.

The only problem I have with this product is that it is not enough coverage from the "outside looking in." Which in my case defeats the entire purpose. If the outside looking in view was the same as looking at it from the inside..it would be perfect. So with that being said....when sitting inside, my view outside is completely obscured, but when I go outside and look at the window, it is not crystal clear..but it is very easy to make out that I have a computer sitting on my desk (which would not be good for a thief should he/she be "checking out my home."..also, if you you are wanting to still see outside of your window from the inside..this doesn't work. I can't even see a car passing on my street if I am sitting in my office through this film (a luxury I wish was present when looking in the window from the outside).

During the day...it is not as bad..you can only see that there is a computer sitting on my desk.

During the night....if we have the light turned on...although the image is not crystal clear..you are able to see a lot more clearer. For instance, if I was in my night gown...I wouldn't dare walk in that room because my neighbors would be able to see that I am half-dressed. So it doesn't create the privacy that I actually need.

What would fix this problem?....if you could apply this product..from the outside. Then it would be PERFECT.

I will have to put up another window treatment to get the privacy we need...:(

I was looking for something that would give privacy on my large, street facing windows without losing any of the light. This product was perfect! From the outside you can see things right next to the window (like curtains) but everything back 6 inches or so is a mystery...even backlit at night. Very pleased with the results.

I can not be certain for which texture film other reviews have been written. This review is for Texture 12; a sort of rippled/pebbled pattern. I very much like this window film. It provides excellent privacy, much more than I had expected. I have just finished installing it on my patio door. For looking in from the outside, it might as well be opaque. Excellent privacy and security while still allowing ample light inside. This is at mid-day, with all the lights on inside. I am eager to see how it will be looking in when it is dark outside. This is just for curiosity, as at night we draw the blinds. The one important caveat I have to add concerns installation. The instructions tell you to not let the paper backing get wet, but I do not think that they emphasize this enough nor do they inform you of the consequences. It was hot, and I perspired while I was trimming the door size film to fit. A few drops of perspiration fell from my brow and onto the backing paper. Wherever the backing got wet, it pretty much disintegrated and bonded to the window film. Seriously. It wasn't just a simply matter to remove it either. I was able to get most of it removed via judicious use of a non-stick safe dish scrubber. It took work. Seriously. This isn't just a matter of ease of removing a dry backing vs wet. Once the paper is moistened, the glossy surface that faces the film becomes glued to the film. Given that, I do wish that they had waterproofed the backing. So, just watch it if it is hot or you perspire easily. The little squeegee provided with the film was surprisingly effective. I did not need to use another, although I had others at hand. Post script: I purchased this in April 2014 for $29.99. I just now installed it in August 2014 because we had the patio doors replaced.Read more ›

Got this product 2 days after I ordered it, not bad. I read a bunch of reviews before installing thes films on my windows and heeded the advice to make sure I first cleaned the window really well and then had plenty of water (with a little bit of liquid soap) on the window when I put it up. It was a snap to put on the window and I easily did it by myself. Once on the window, the bubbles were easy to get out with the included "squeegy". Provides enough visual deterent where someone on the other side of the window would only be able to see very blurry figures inside as this still allows the light in quite well.

1 Word of caution, do not get the paper backing on the film wet before removing from film as it will adhere to the film and is a real pain to get off. I had a tinie little drop on one spot and it took me a little elbow grease just to get that little spot of transferred paper off the film, I'm thankful it was only a very small spot!
