Review
The retirement home industry employs many dedicated professionals who are truly interested in the welfare of the residents whom they serve. Some, upon spotting a resident haltingly proceeding to the dining room with the aid of a walker, will fetch a wheelchair and roll him or her the rest of the way, and then back again after the meal is finished, without being asked. Others will drive their own cars to a hospital to sit with a dying resident until the end arrives. Nothing in this memoir is intended to denigrate or to disparage such personnel. Rather, my purpose is to depict realistically what to expect institutionally and financially when you are about to persuade a loved one to enter such an establishment.
Product Description
This book describes my parents' care and treatment at, respectively, a lower-end nursing home and a higher-end retirement community. It discusses the disclosed and hidden costs of placing a loved one in such an institution, and it is recommended reading for anyone considering such a course of action.
