    5.0 out of 5 stars Faberware / Salton CoffeeMaker 10 Cup, it's wonderful, here's why!, May 3, 2009

Review has two comments by me. This coffeemaker died a swift death and was returned. Too bad. I retract my five stars rating to a single star. See second comment.....

We just bought this in Arkansas at an ALCO five and dime department store. They are wonderful. Why? 1. It has the cone shape filters which are better for getting the good from your fine coffees. 2. The professional style carafe pours very nicely, it's small at the top, unlike our last Walgreens model which was a wide top and leaked profusely.
It's automatic so will have your coffee ready when you get up. So, ease of use and price are the main reasons we like it. It makes coffee well and keeps it really hot, my wife likes that. Just a side comparison to the Delonghi Unit that is similar, we took it back to Lowes. That unit is huge and the internal cavity rains down condensing water and causes puddles underneath the unit and gets on the hotplate too. Grrr.... 3. The Faberware fill sight glass has a little red ball in it. It may hang up with a bubble at the bottom and you may have to tap it to get it to float up. If you have good lighting it's not a problem as you can see the water level, or if you measure your water and pour it in with the carafe you don't even need to look.

So we love the Faberware Auto 10 Cup Cone Filter Coffeemaker. If you roast and grind your own coffees, then you want a good pot to go with that extra effort coffee. We are so happy.

Cons, and yes, there are a few: 1. The water fill lid is crescent shaped and smaller than two inches wide. It requires that we slide it out from under the cabinet. We got over that, spoiled by a short squat Mr. Coffee from years ago, none like it now. 2. It's a little hassle to pull the grounds cup with it's odd shape, but it works well. 3. The latch is tough to open but I figure it keeps it shut well and will likely get easier with age. That's it. We love this machine. Cheers, Bruce

Check Alco if you have one locally and save the shipping. One more thing, it took about the third pot to get all the new machine taste of the plastics gone, but kind of to be expected, it did go away....
