I wish I'd thought to take pictures or notes of my dogs' teeth before I started this to see if it's making a big difference. We've been using the small size for 2.5 months now (and are almost out - we have 3 dogs and use 1 scoop 1x/day for each) and it appears to have worked to help clean their teeth, but doesn't get rid of everything. Once when I was checking their teeth for improvement, a chunk of plaque came off, which was a good indicator to me that it was doing something. The true test will be what the vet says at their yearly exams.
However, it does not help with breath. (Unfortunately, we have a poo-eater, so I didn't expect it to help with that breath, and it didn't.) But we have 2 other dogs, one whose breath was never bad and the other who is old and stinks, and her breath has not improved.
Overall, I'd recommend trying this product and seeing if you notice a difference. The price isn't bad, and if you're like me and are bad at brushing your dogs' teeth, it's worth it to pay $15-20 (for the 60gm) for several months' worth vs. several hundred for cleaning the dogs' teeth every few years.

Edit 5/18/10: Well, we took our youngest dog to the vet a few weeks ago and despite using this daily, they said he has some inflamed gums and plaqued teeth that will need a sedated cleaning to fix. The vet said this kind of product *might* help if pets have already clean/healthy teeth, but won't help if they already have issues.

I was hesitant to buy a product like this, but after reading several positive reviews, I decided to give it a try. After two months of usage, I have not noticed any reduction in the plaque levels of my dog's teeth. (See the image I uploaded at the top of this page.) Each day, I add two scoops of the PlaqueOff product to her food. In addition, her teeth are brushed three times per week.

Save your money and take your dog to the vet to have his/her teeth professionally cleaned. Then be sure to brush frequently to keep the plaque at bay.

I have a 19 year old cat with bad teeth, and giving her antibiotics daily for gingivitis was basically torture, so I decided to let her be and try this stuff. After a couple months of use, I took her to the vet and her gingivitis was under control and there wasn't much plaque, so it seems like it must work to some degree.

UPDATE: I am suspicious that this stuff is causing urinary crystals in my cats. They have never had urinary problems before, but since I have started using this stuff, three of them have had urinary problems. As I understand it, urinary crystals are aggravated by high mineral content in the food, and I believe this stuff is high in minerals.

UPDATE: My 7 year old tomcat has been hospitalized because he was peeing blood. I discontinued using this stuff as soon as I suspected it might be a contributing factor, his condition is slowly improving. If you see your cat peeing on rugs or visiting the litter box frequently, it might be causing such a problem with your cats. Please keep an eye on them.

I was introduced to this product by a friend in Hawaii - i had previously never heard of it. We started using it on our 3 dogs about 5 weeks ago; one of the dogs, a 13 year old JRT had heavy plaque buildup. I patiently kept putting this in her food and took a close look at her teeth this week. Finally! I noticed some pieces of the tartar had worn away!! This paved the way to use the new dental scaler I bought on Amazon from another seller.

This item does require a good 4-6 weeks of constant application in your pet's food before any noticeable results. Be patient and just keep giving it to them. Also; there is a health warning that animals undergoing hyperthroidism treatment cannot use this product.

I just reordered a bigger container than the one my friend had complimentarily given me so I can maintain my pets' teeth!

I have two large dogs and two cats, and not one of them will sit like a little angel so you can brush their teeth. One of my dogs was beginning to get serious scale build up on her back molars despite my attempts to clean them, dental chews, and other "miracle cures". My other dog has always had very clean teeth, but they were beginning to yellow with old age. The cats are both young and haven't had any noticeable buildup yet, but I was tired of fighting them to clean their teeth. I read some reviews and decided to give this product a try, and I am so glad I did. I used 1 scoop a day for both of the cats, and my little girl with pretty good teeth, and used the max dose for my big baby with the less than sparkling smile. Within a week I noticed a difference, not a big one, but enough to keep me interested. After about a month I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself. Everyone has beautiful white teeth, and much better breath! The scale is completely gone off the back molars, and even my older dog with yellowing teeth has a brighter whiter doggy grin! It does seem expensive, but the scoop is tiny and 1 180g bottle has lasted me about 2 months. And for what it's saving me in vet cleanings time and energy it is well worth what I paid! Everyone still likes their food, and I haven't noticed any side effects in any of my pets. If there is a wonder product out there, in my opinion this is it!
