I had this unit installed during a bathroom remodel, and it is exactly as advertised - quiet and effective. However I had trouble at first: the heater was a little noisy and sounded as though something was rubbing. The exhaust fan was extremely noisy. The Broan technical support people were very good - they immediately sent me a replacement heater unit (it installs very easily from below, no need to remove from the ceiling), and after I described the second problem suggested that the exhaust ducting needs a minimum of a 2 foot straight run after it leaves the unit. I was using flexible insulated ducting, and when that was straightened for the first 2-3 feet, the noise dropped dramatically. The unit is now very quiet, and Broan impressed me with the way they stood behind their product.

The fan is extremely quiet and very effective. The heater is great too. It warms up our 10x10 bathroom in about 5 minutes. It feels great after getting out of the shower!

The heater is not as quiet as the fan. If the fan runs at .9 sones, then the heater probably runs at 2 sones.

The fan is also much larger than a regular bathroom fan/light combo. I would not install this in a small bathroom.

Don't be deceived by the color of the picture on Amazon. The cover for this fan is bright white. It looks like an off-white color in the picture here.

There were three headaches with the installation
1. Running a new 20 amp line
2. Running new conduit because the electrical connections are on the opposite side of our existing bath fan
3. The exhaust requires 6" ductwork instead of the 4" ductwork that was already in place.

Make sure you have a large junction box for the switch. There are 6 12 guage wires that need to fit.

There is a seperate switch that needs to be purchased with this.

My bathroom is 12'x 14' with a 9'ceiling. It's a corner room, so has 2 outside walls and stays fairly cool in winter. I turn on the heater 15 min. ahead of time and it heats the room perfectly for a shower or bath. The fan/vent is almost soundless. I wish I could make the light brighter by adding another bulb or using a larger one - if the bath were smaller and ceiling lower it would probably light the area better. I'm very satisfied with Amazon's service and price and would buy again.

We installed this in 2011 and were really pleased with how quiet it was. The installation was straight-forward, just needs a larger hole and access above for the vent tube.
But lately I noticed that it was no longer quiet. Opening it up I find that it has collected a lot of lint on the squirrel cage fan and it's much noisier. It is also difficult to clean as you are reaching up into the unit in the ceiling with the vacuum. I used a micro brush attachment with my shop vac (http://www.amazon.com/Shop-Vac-801-89-Shop-Vac-Micro-cleaning/dp/B00002ND4G).
You should plan on doing this annually although the manual does not suggest a schedule.
I would be much happier with this unit if it had a replaceable or washable filter to keep the fan itself clean.

This is the perfect way to have a toasty bathroom without heating the entire house. And it can be quite warm, too. Reduces condensation as well as the room surfaces are warm. Got one in every bathroom.

This is an amazing fan and I'm glad I spent the extra money for it. LOVE the heater for the babies and for winter-time showers! LOVE the night light. Who wants to turn on a full light in the middle of the night? And the handy night light is on the ceiling so it lights up the whole bathroom evenly, which is awesome. I like this feature much more than I thought I would. It is a super powerful exhaust fan and very quiet. The heater is louder than the fan.

Be aware of the serious installation. My electrician would not install this fan. It has a much larger than standard exhaust pipe (which is why it is so quiet) but I had to pay an HVAC guy $200 to vent this out my roof, rather than out the side wall because there wasn't enough room, and it was pricey. I suppose if you are quite handy you could install it yourself, but I think this unit is beyond the average DIYer.

This is the best, silent fan, great heater. We just added a new bath,(9X12) the heater warms up the bathroom in about 3 min., the fan is so silent, it sounds like it's not on. Price tag is high, but worth every penny. We have a smaller unit in our other bath, & it's still working great after 18 years.

Main feed wire from house to heater, rated at 120v 1425w overheated and melted, and smoked out the box.
Seems the wire they used was a 16 awg wire, max current 13 amps, but based on the wattage of the above combo, 120/1425 gives 11.5 amps.
Seems the tolerance is very tight and no room for breathing on the current carring ability of the wire, so now I have a fired electrical connection on the power to the heater.
will see what we can do to up the wire capacity.
