This product is great if you need to create a custom soil mix for your plants. Easy to work with, resealable bag.There is nothing else in the bag just straight pebbles, no additives. Provides aeration and drainage and wont break down over time like some other materials. Does not affect ph balance in soil mix. This product has many uses besides birds. Glad I found it.

I don't use this for poultry, I use it as part of a soilless plant media mix. It is a clean granite grit that works well for anyone trying to make "Al's gritty mix." My plants are thriving in it.

The crushed granite is great for creating a gritty and fast draining mix for plants. I currently use it in a 1:1:1 gritty mix (fir bark : turface : crushed granite) for some succulents, cacti and a pachira aquatic plant and they seen to be doing well. The granite is non-porous and helps reduce perched water in containers that usually lead to root problems. The product is pricey for only 5lbs though; but this item is hard to find online.

This product is just what my chickens wanted. They needs small granite stones to aid in their digestion. These have a variety of sizes and I just scatter them around the ground and they eat what they want & need.

I bought this partly because I did not want to keep feeding calcium grit to the roosters, and it works very well for both sexes. The grit size is just right, and the granite is tougher than the oyster shell, so it works very well for them. The girls get both, and are producing great eggs so I think the mixture works well. I feel it is a bit pricey compared to a bag of oyster shell but it lasts well.

This grit is the perfect size for laying hens. Not too big, not to small. I think I have noticed that the chickens' shells have gotten much harder since I have been using this. The chickens seem to like it too, as they do not eat around it. One bag is lasting forever.

This chicken grit is a perfect component to a gritty mix. It is, however, ridiculously over priced! But at the time of purchase, I didn't care. You can usually find this stuff at any feed store for about $5-$6 per 5 lbs. But if that is not available in your area, this is definitely worth buying. :)
