We have a narrow third floor balcony that has no cover from the sun/rain and no room to put a standard umbrella. This one was perfect! The base is heavy enough to keep the umbrella stable and it fits nicely against the exterior of our unit. It's allowed us to make better use of our small, outdoor space. We purchased the umbrella from amazon.com, but we also purchased the half-table from the Blue Star Group locally. It works well in the small space with this umbrella. My neighbor (same small balcony)has the table and chair set and had recommended this company. This is a great buy for balconies, but I imagine it could be useful in any outdoor space.

First off, it came almost a week sooner than they said it would so that puts me in a good mood. Secondly, it is just amazing quality. I reviewed the base and reported that it is crazy heavy (almost 50 pounds) and the umbrella went in so easy. The material is so freaking much better than the less expensive umbrellas and because the base is so sturdy, I'm sure I'm going to be able to leave it up all season. It's like getting an awning at a fraction of the cost.

It perfectly sheilds my back room from the evening sun and lets me sit out back during these spring rains. This company (with whom I am not affiliated) puts together quality. I'm really happy!

I ordered this item on 10 June and all indications were that it was "in stock" and would ship June 16-21. It is now June 30 and the only status I have is that it will "ship soon" and that it cannot be cancelled. I gave this one star because of the lack of responsiveness from Blue Star Group. I have always been more than 100% satisfied with products from Amazon but this experience has been hard to swallow. I sent my second query to Blue Star Group today requesting shipping status. P.S. I received the base in about 3 days from Brookstone which was faster than I thought I would. However a base with no umbrella is quite UNSATISFACTORY.

I purchased this at the beginning of the summer for my sunny patio. It is the perfect solution (as opposed to attaching an awning to my house). Provides shade for a small bistro set and prevents sun from blinding us inside the house. We use the patio more than ever. Regular umbrellas do not shade a 6' sliding door as well. I have it in white, which shows dirt quickly. Am ordering a blue one which should not look as grimy. You do need the base for this umbrella.

I recently recieved the 7.5', beige umbrella on the date that it was promised to arrive. The quality looks good and it was easy to set up. The only problem I have is "why" it is not sold "with" the base, as one would expect. For the cost of the umbrella and the base, it becomes over-priced, (I made my own base).
