These are NOT high-end router bits. They are not designed for high end routing work where cabinetry level interior carpentry or high-end musical instrument measurements are demanded. HOWEVER; they CAN be made to work in such fine areas with things like a decent Cut-Out tool that they are worth their weight in time.... If you need a Router for large scale routing: get a Router. but if you need a routed channel or things of a nature that would be hand-fit anyway; these are just the ticket.
An example would be making a replica Katana (sword) sheath. The two elements of wood would require hand-fitting in any case; but the small routing would be a serious chore with a larger router. A Cut-Out tool with small sized router bits would be perfect (& they are). Other examples are rifle stock fittings, desk drawer repair, tongue and groove repair, or small scale routing in a hard to reach unmovable place or object.
I cannot imagine why high-end manufacturers have not made these. However, I have not seen them at a great many woodworking stores. They are NOT junk. But they are not high-end German made quality router bits. I suggest Cut-Out tools like a DeWalt because of the strength of the motor. The DeWalt Cut-Out machine has a 5 amp motor, the Porter-Cable (if you can find them) has a 5.6 amp motor. You need a machine with some real drive to get clean cuts when routing. When using Fine, small routing bits, that extra strength will get a finer cut.
However unlike a Plunger-Router, you need to set up your routing pathway very well and even make allowances for the lack of a Plunger start. You ARE not using a Router; you are using router bits. If fore-thought is placed into the activity; these tiny bits can really be useful.Read more ›

Ideal bits to work on small parts. Go slow and make several passes taking away a little material at a time. A soft touch is needed as to avoid breaking or over heating bits

The units have the appearance of cheap and are useless on any wood other than balsa. They are apx 1/3" smaller than the Dremel equivalent or the Harbor freight units. Upon using one it was balanced but left a semi-rough edge. These are best used by beginners as advanced would either spend hours cleaning these up or purchase a much higher grade. Just goes to show you get what you pay for. Returned and will purchase better units when available

Clearly lacking in QC on this one. I have a good set from Dremel, and bought these as "beaters". They needed cleaning up before being usable for that. I don't regret my purchase, but these are crap. Edges weren't deburred, curves looked like spines and not "clean" arcs, and nothing seemed to be "finished".

The items i got were poorly cut and very rough. One issue is that the heads arent bearings or anything, the are just notches, and cut easily into the wood, or at least burn it so they offer almost no purpose. I did notice that they were not bearings before i purchassed them, but i figured it would still work fine considering the descent reviews that this item had.
The actual Dremmel ones to actually have a tiny bearing on the top, i would just recommend paying the slight difference and purchassing those ones.

Nice little set, comes in the shown wooden box. I bought this to use with my new dremel and it cost less than half of what an "official" Dremel set of router bits would. Seems to be good quality metal, no design or manufacturing flaws. I've cut wood, plastic, and thin metal with several of the bits. No issues yet.
