Product Description

Product Description

The Olympus SP-550 Ultra Zoom helps you capture the moment and never miss the action. Its 7.1 megapixel CCD grabs every detail and the 18x wide-angle super-telephoto zoom lens gets you closer to your subject than any other compact digital camera on the market. Pre-Capture technology works as soon as the focus is locke, archiving the picture five frames in advance. Bright Capture Technology makes it easy to shoot in low light without a flash. Sensor-Shift Image Stabilization keeps your shot steady by compensating for camera shake (ideal for shooting in low light and zooming), and Digital Image Stabilization freezes the action -- capture crisp, clear images in any situation, even at longer focal lengths. . The wide-angle lens allows more in your frame & a 100x total zoom capability is perfect for indoor shooting, landscapes and group shots. 3.0 out of 5 stars SP550UZ Camera, March 25, 2009
By L. Moon (Oregon) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I purchased this camera exclusively for underwater photography. The Olympus underwater housing is a really good size and all controls are accessible.
I think the camera takes a decent photo, and the flash is quite acceptable. I am a little disappointed in the shutter lag, though. There's a rather lengthy pause between pushing the shutter button and the actual shutter actuation. I know that there's a lot happening in the camera during that time, but you have to hold the camera really still so that you don't end up with a blurry picture. I wish it was a faster process.
