We got this after we saw the groomer using it on our dog. We have a German Shepherd that "blows" his coat twice a year. We decided to try this after stressing out about hair EVERYWHERE. The first time we used it, we got enough hair off the dog to fill a grocery bag! Our dog is older so his skin is sensitive, but he LOVES this brush and it doesn't bother his skin or hurt him like the other brushes do. He starts jumping around when we pull it out of the drawer because he knows it will be a grooming treat for him. The other plus is how easy it is to clean up...as soon as the brush is full of hair, you can just shake it out in one clump and put it in the bag.

Love that this little product is the key factor to why my floors are staying dog hair-free for longer. I have 4 little dogs, most being dachshunds and the only reason I took off 1 star was more for their sake, seeing that they do not love being brushed by it as others claimed. In fact my littlest, she's only 7lbs. almost acts as if the brush hurts her if I'm not careful and use it really really soft. I'm not sure if my dogs are the only ones that don't act as if they are getting a massage, but that's what everyone else in the reviews section claimed it would do and what I expected. The other 3 of my dogs do put up with being brushed once every other day or so and it keeps the pet hair off of me and the floors, which is what I really wanted. The only other negative thing to mention is that it is somewhat difficult to get the hair off of the brush once done using it.

Update: Still love the brush, but I thought I would share an easy way of getting the dog hair off of the brush. Instead of trying to pick the hair off, which is almost impossible I simply blow onto the brush and the dog hair floats away. So simple right?

This thing removes an amazing amount of loose fur, and the dog likes it. It's soft and easy to hold, and the rubber fingers gather up all that loose fur and grip it. When it's full, you can get rid of the fur with a shake (or it disengages and falls off in a mat by itself). Make sure you use it outside as you will be getting a lot of fur off and don't leave it where the dog will treat it as a chew toy!

I've had German Shepherds for most of my adult life, and have tried many competitive products to the Zoom Groom. Zoom Groom is by far the best: the dogs love it, it makes it pleasant for the dog and easy for you to scrub right down to their skin, and it pulls out dead hair even if the dog has been thoroughly brushed prior to bathing. Zoom Grooms also last "forever". I've had one for over 20 years that's still in great shape; just bought this one for our summer home. Most highly recommended.

I bought the purple one for cats, but it is the same "brush."

My cat has super soft, fine fur. It gets onto things and is hard to get off. Also, this brush actually works well on clothing and the couches/chairs, etc. IT is slightly tacky. Not sticky, exactly, but it attracts the hair in a clingy way. It's quite brilliant. Glad I made the purchase.

UPDATE: I had originally purchased a Four Paws Ultimate Touch Slicker Wire Brush as well. My cat liked it, so I bought one for my mom. Her dog and 2 of her 4 cats are terrified of the other brush. They run and hide if they see it out. So, I also bought her one of these and all of the animals like that. If you have an animal who tends to be picky, I would go with this brush instead. However, I got one that is flat on the side you hold and it is harder to use than the one I bought my mom, which is curved and fits in the palm better. All of the Kong Zoom Grooms have the same "bristles", so I would recommend going with a curved version.

Product arrived timely but when I opened the mailing package- the manufacturers cardboard packaging of the brush was smashed almost flat and the rubber brush was dirty. Not dirty as if it had prior use - but like it had been dropped on a dirty floor and then stepped on once or twice. Fortunately produced scrubbed almost clean with soapy water and looked close to new. It will be used bathe our new lab puppy -so I saw no reason to return or exchange- as the pup won't notice!
