The one thing missing from the description: the inside distance is 48". So if you are like me and weren't certain if this would fit your rack, now you know. As for the bar itself, seems to be made well and it is exactly what I'd expect.

The best bar I ever owned. Don't go for bars that don't come with their own locks because you'll be wasting your money. I once bought a bar said to secure standard weight plates thinking I can use the same locks I used for my dumbbells which also supported standard plates and the bar ended up being like a millimeter short and my locks wouldn't fit it. Yes, standard size bars or locks are not always the same size.

I've had bars that would rust on me in less than a month but this one is holding out. The locks screw on and off so easy, I love it, and I can usually complete two or three workouts before having to tighten them again. It may seem skinny and hard to feel in my grip, but all bars feel that way to me. It sometimes falls too short when I do the overhead press. I'm 6 ft, so if I'm not careful where I place my hands the weight hits the side of my forearm when doing this particular exercise, and my 20lb plates are small, designed for dumbbells. I have the same problem with the bench press. But with everything else (bent over row, upright row, squats, deadlift, or even curls if your wrists can take it) this bar makes a tough workout comfortable.

I use to do everything with dumbbells but I find bars make things so much easier when doing compound workouts using both arms or legs. Especially with bent over rows or presses because I spend less time concentrating on maintaining equal distance between hands and more time focusing on movement, muscle contraction and good form, which is essential in preventing injury.

This is my first barbell, so I can't compare it to anything else. It feels nice and solid, and the threaded ends turn smoothly. The bar seems to weigh about 15 lbs (weighing myself holding the bar, then without, assuming the bathroom scale is reliable at all). The 6' length has plenty of room on the ends for using some thick plastic weights I had from cheap dumbbell sets. I would recommend this for anyone else who is starting out and won't be needing to lift more than 250 lbs right away. Bought from amazon and shipping was fast. Came packaged in a long retail style box wrapped in stretch wrap plastic, which is fine because I can't see anything damaging this item.

This thing is exactly what I needed. I needed a 6 foot bar to fit on my Olympic sized bench press from gold's gym. I don't own any Olympic sized weights nor do I want to purchase any. I had some weights from other purchases that fit this bar perfectly. This bar is bigger than I thought, which is great actually. Now I can put more weights on it, including the cement weights that are about 2 to 3 inches wide a piece. Looks like you could fit about 200 pounds of sand or concrete filled weights(5x20LBS on each side). I was using a cheap bar that you put together in the middle. That didn't feel sturdy and I was afraid to put much weight on it. This bar is rock solid! It is much heavier than I thought, but that is a good thing. Now I have an extra 10-15LBS added to my reps. Really the best thing about this bar is the price for this type of quality. Now I need to buy more weights, but I am going with cheap concrete filled and I will have enough weight for 200LBS! The bar maxes out at 250lbs, so if you are planning to lift a car soon I don't think this is for you.

Use the bar every other day, have had it for 8 months. Unlike other bars i have had in the past no chipping or flaking of the chrome. The lock nuts hold fine, they loosen up slightly but not to the point where there is any danger of the weights falling off. Have loaded this bar up to 200lbs no issues with the strength of the bar. Fast shipping as well. NOTE this is for STANDARD WEIGHTS Not Olympic style weights.

Picked up the 5' bar recently while on sale at Amazon. I considered the 6 footer at first but this bar perfect for my needs. As a 66 yr. old guy, I only lift a moderate amount of weight to maintain muscle tone. Using the cheap Wally World 10# weights, this bar has enough room to go to 200 lbs.; more than I'll ever need.

It took about 15 minutes work with a boxcutter to free it from the layers of stretchwrap in which it was shipped. Also the knurling in the bar grip areas is deep and sharp enough to be felt while lifting. Mine came through in perfect condition with no signs of rust or other damage.

The right side threaded weight retention collar always works loose in the course of a lifting session. Tightening it back up only takes a few seconds, so it's no biggie. I have another bar with the same style collars, and it does the same thing.

Received the Cap bar yesterday. It was well-packed, but had tape over the end of the long box.

FAILED after one use, three sets, 25-pounds per side (50-pounds total for curls). No drops, no user damage. Hopefully I can add photos here: the fixed, inner collar on one side came off completely! It is unusable without the collar, which keeps the weight from sliding all the way across the bar handle. I see, and hopefully the photos will show this, that the collar is spot welded, not welded all the way around the bar. It's almost tacked on! If it did not fail here, within the Amazon return period, I feel that it would have failed eventually. It is a cheap and lousy bar. Amazon asks if I would want a replacement or a refund; refund for sure as a "new" Cap bar will do this again. Frankly, I would never buy a Cap bar or any other Cap product again except for Cap standard (not Olympic) plates, which were reasonable (no moving parts, hard to screw those up too badly). Cap Industries, Texas, imported goods: avoid!

See photos as I want to show the rinky-dink welding on the inside of this failed collar. It is tacked in about three spots, that's it. Lousy!
