Just bought my second one - the spoon spatula. Have owned my first one for 8 yrs. now with absolutely no problems.

The two features that set these spatulas apart from the competition is that they have a metal (or hard plastic) core that runs the entire length of the handle and then down into the center of the blade part. Secondly, they're molded as one piece of silicone. No areas to collect bits of debris. Also doesn't have to be taken apart to run through the dishwasher like wood handle ones do.

As a side note; the handles are round, not a flattened oval like most spatulas. That's hard to see in the pictures...

i bought this in jan. 2010 for 12.00 because it was solid silicone and had a five-year limited warranty. i thought the price was high but i cook a lot and thought i would try this spatula. immediately the loop at the end broke off when i used it to stir cookie dough. then the handle got scratched when i scooped peanut butter out of the plastic jar. recently the spoon area cracked horizontally when i was stirring cake batter. it is now un-usable. i tried to call the company using the 800 number on the label that was attached to the spatula. they are not accepting calls right now but said to e-mail them. i followed their instructions and did this over a week ago. no response whatsoever. my advice is buy a cheap spatula at your favorite big box store and skip this one. it is highly over-rated and over-priced. if the company had only responded to my questions, i might have given a different rating.

I have this spatula in several colors. I use the black & red for savory food & tomato sauces. I use the white for baking and desserts. I really like that these are one piece - no area for gunk to build up, dishwasher safe, & no "peeing" out water after washing. Also, since the silicone goes all the way up the handle, you don't have to worry about the handle melting in a hot pan if you forget it. The reason I give it 4 stars (not 5) is because the handle is a little short. But these are still my go-to spats & I would buy more.

In my opinion, a good spatula conforms to the sides of the bowl. This one does nothing of the sort. It is stiff and unyielding and why did I get a kitchen utensil in black? It washes up with water spots and looks generally yucky. But I digress. I do like that it is one piece, but that still doesn't compensate for the lack of bendability. I long for my nasty old Rubbermaid ones that hugged the bowl, but that I so rudely scorned for being stained and gnarly. Shame on me.

The design of this spatula is great. I love that it is all one piece, so I don't have to worry that one day the end will pop off (or that water or food will get inside the cracks between the handle and the end). I love that the whole thing is heat-resistant (unlike my wood-handled spatulas) and I can prop it on the side of a pan. But I had to drop one star because the end is a bit too "floppy" for me. When I apply pressure to scrape something stuck to the side of a bowl or pan, the spatula starts to fold and sometimes the very end of it flops up and ends up riding on top of the food I'm trying to scrape, instead of staying underneath the food. Maybe that's a weird complaint, but it's enough that I need to keep a (much cheaper) spatula with a firmer end on hand.

I bought a few different brands of silicone spatulas about a year ago and have been using them steadily ever since. While Orca makes one-piece spatulas as well as anyone, the problem I have with their design it rounds off into a thick edge rather than tapering to a thin one. Because of this, I find myself using my Trudeau and iSi spatulas more.

I had some wonderful spatulas, made my Zyliss, that I absolutely loved. Over time though, where the plastic handle connected to the silicone spatula, water seeped in. When I'd use the spatula, water from my dishwasher would trickle out of the handle and into what I was cooking. Ew! So I began searching for a solid, seamless spatula. The Mastrad Spatula has been the best one I've found so far. It's one solid piece of silicone. No seams that can collect dishwater. I would give it five stars, because it's holding up beautifully, is solidly constructed and has enough flex without being floppy. The reason I gave it 4 stars is that the handle tends to get hot if I leave it setting in a pot, on the stove. I imagine it has a metal rod that the handle is molded over. I wish it had a tad more silicone insulation on the handle. Still, I'm pleased enough with it that I've purchased three, total.
