Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description Mitsubishi's LT-40134 is a 40-inch 1080p flat panel HDTV that incorporates the latest technologies for more accurate color reproduction and a picture that is more life-like than before. This 40-inch HDTV would be ideal as part of a home theater system in a small-to-medium-sized room.

With Deep Color technology, shaded images show less banding and greater contrast. View larger.

The LT-40134 is just six inches thick and has a beautiful, minimalist look. View larger.

TV Guide is built in so you'll always know what's on. View TV guide menu.
Lots Of Pixels In a Small Thin Box
The LT-40134 is just six inches thick but packs in a lot of technology for outstanding performance. Quality speakers are hidden away to maintain a beautiful, minimalist look that takes up less space in your room. The display is 1080p, which means it has the full 1920 x 1080 high definition resolution with progressive scan that is the highest quality HDTV standard today. With large televisions, this is important, as having a dense array of over two million pixels prevents the eye from seeing pixelation, especially at close distances.

The television is able to display any video signal that is connected to it. When a 1080p signal is the input, it is passed through with no down conversion, and the 1080p signal is maintained from beginning to end, giving the best picture quality. When a lower resolution is detected, whether it is 720p HD or a DVD, the signal is automatically scaled to display at 1080p, with minimal side effects and a very detailed picture.

Vibrant Colors You've Never Seen Before
The LT-40134 incorporates a slew of new technologies that give this television the most realistic color reproduction available on the market today. The new x.v.Color standard is supported, which dramatically increases the color space available, with 80% more color than standard HDTV. The television also supports Deep Color, a new standard that incorporates 10-bit color depth versus the previous 8-bit color depth. With Deep Color, shaded images show less banding and greater contrast.

Mitsubishi's Full Spectrum Color is an exclusive system that uses a wide range of phosphors in the LCD's backlight for brighter and more vivid reds and yellows, and more shades of green, cyan, and blue. Along with Mitsubishi's Color 4D Noise Reduction, PerfectColor, and PerfectTint, you get a wider color palette and the ability to fine tune the set to your exact preferences. The end result is a picture that is brighter, smoother, and more realistic than ever, with colors that have never been seen on a television set before.

Connections Galore
You don't need to worry about running out of connections with the LT-40134. It has a total of three HDMI 1.3 inputs with Simplay HD certification, so you can connect your Blu-Ray player and HD DVD player, and still have an input left over. It also has three component video inputs (two rear, one side), a side USB connection so you can display up to five megapixel photographs on the television, and two rear A/V inputs with S-Video, as well as a Dolby Digital/PCM output and an analog stereo output.

Simple Controls
Mitsuibishi's NetCommand allows the included partially-illuminated remote to control an entire home theater system. NetCommand is an on-screen system with simple and intuitive icon-based controls. The LT-41034 also has TV Guide Daily built in, so you have a program guide available all the time.

The LT-40134 is backed by a limited 1-year parts and labor warranty.

What's in the Box
LT-40134 40-inch LCD HDTV, remote control, two AA batteries, owner's guide, quick reference guide, quick connect guide, product registration card, cable tie, and cable clamp.

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome hdtv, October 4, 2007

This review is from: Mitsubishi LT-40134 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV (Electronics)
Awesome tv! I was ready to purchase the Samsung 37". However, I was a bit put off by its shiny (i.e., distracting) high gloss frame. Then, I found that the Mitsubishi 40" was the same overall size as the Samsung 37" and the Mitsubishi's bezel is so small its almost invisible!

The Mits 40134 is definitely the way to go over the stripped down 40133. The 134 has dynamic contrast enhancement while the 133 does not. It also has "edge detail enhancement processing" which really does work. You can clearly see the difference even in the menu display while turning this feature on/off. Also, the 134's remote command feature provides 2, wired, InfraRed transmitters which allows the 134 to control other devices such as your cable box and DVD. I haven't yet used the 134's "TV Guide" capability so I can't comment on that.

If you do get this set, I recommend that you switch it from the default "Brilliant" picture setting to "Normal".

5.0 out of 5 stars Small bevel and excellent color!, October 18, 2007
By Happy Camper (Austin, Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mitsubishi LT-40134 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV (Electronics)
Although I had my mind on a SHARP, I purchased the Mitsuibishi as it was the largest screen nice that would fit into an Ethan Allen Armoire we have. The Mitsuibishi has a very thin bevel around the frame which means you can pack in more screen size into a limited space. The 40 inch Mitsuibishi cleared by a half inch - just perfect. This was the only 40 inch TV I could get for this furniture. Otherwise, I would of had to have gone with a 37 inch model.

At first I was nervous about the brand as all the advertising and press seems to go to the big three - LG, SAMSUNG, and SHARP. Consumer Reports has never even tested a Mitsuibishi LCD TV. Well, the color is just fabulous. Mitsuibishi claims 25% more color than standard HD-LCD TV's. The set-up was easy and intuitive. You can even program the TV when you want it to come one each day. We also enjoy the side panel which allows you to connect just about anything including a USB drive. Mitsuibishi included some built in slideshow software so that you can easily watch your photos automatically when you connect the thumb drive to the USB port. Why wife really was glad we ended up picking this one. It way cost slightly more than the big 3 brands, but were glad we bought it.

1.0 out of 5 stars DON'T BUY IT, December 27, 2007
By Discontented buyer (Washington, D.C.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mitsubishi LT-40134 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV (Electronics)
Don't bother with this TV. Mitsubishi's support for its product is nothing short of pathetic. I purchased this TV last month, only to have a small horizontal blacked out line show up in the display within the first week or so of use. Following all of the warranty instructions, I called Mitsubishi. Their local service center picked it up, called me a week later and told me it could only be fixed if a new LCD panel were provided. I was told I had to call Mitsubishi myself. Upon being called, Mitsubishi's agent claimed that the LCD panel was not within the warranty -- even though the warranty itself has no such exclusion, but covers all parts and labor. So if you want a $1700 paperweight, this is the TV for you. Otherwise, stick with another manufacturer.
