I have just finished sorting and making over 180 photo pages of our families photos. Finding an affordable and sturdy set of photo albums was the real challenge. These albums are easy to use. The D-ring binder style is excellent and the cost is the best part. I was able to select a few of the "favorite photos" for an expensive album but was frustrated with the strap type albums and the add-a-peg style was more difficult to manage and with that many pages, what to do? The best part however is the covers which allow for personalization to each person or the content of the album. Not quite as "cushy" but the sturdy and easy use coupled with the ability to store a large volume of pages including the plastic page covers at a reasonalbe price makes this my choice for all future photo storage projects! I definately think it is worth a try. It is not fancy unless YOU make it so. But it is overall the best I have found. Holds the standard 3 hole 12x12 plastic sleeves with pages housing photos on both sides of the mounting pages. Shop about for these as the prices vary from store to store yet all are the same quality.

I have put together 6 of these photo/scrapbooks. They can be decorated to your choosing on the outside or left plain. The D-ring configuration makes the books lay totally flat while loading them. They hold 60-75 pages maybe more if the pages are thin with not a lot of bulky photos or scrap added. I have all my pages in acid free sleeves and have 78 pages in the largest book. Not any or our local stores carry these so I was delighted to find them available online. The price is great too for the ease and ability to put in lots of pages.

I am NOT a scrapbooker - so I'll just leave an honest review and make sure you know what I used this product for. I wanted a place to put keepsakes for my daughters and husband (e.g., "firsts" like pictures, invitations, etc., drawings, etc.). I like symmetrical anything, so the fact that these were 12x12 was attractive to me. I didn't want to pay a lot of money, because all I really wanted was semi-organization to all the papers and small keepsakes that I had lying around. These scrapbooks were fine for that purpose. Now, and I'm probably doing this wrong (and I don't much care) - so I'll say that when you add pages to this book, the pages sink out of the album when you pick it up. Too much, too heavy...I don't know if that's normal. So, I'm giving it 5 stars but telling you that small thing (which is slightly annoying) because I'm not sure whether that matters to anyone else.

The D ring binder is much easier and quicker for adding new pages, than any other type I have tried. I have even been able to add certificate holding pages or other types of acid free page holders from Staples. For someone who does not scrapbook in order of events, like me, it makes this a lot more enjoyable. No more moving finished sheets from page protector to page protector. Just pop in a new protector and add the sheets I finished.

I was really excited about this album when I ordered it, but after using it a little while I am kind of disappointed. This album is really ONLY meant for standard 12x12 page protectors. I put in some different pocketed page protectors (Project Life Design G and Design A) and found out that the page protectors were actually TALLER than the album so if you store your album upright the weight is pressing on your pages and bending the ends. VERY annoying! I liked that I can customize the cover, but the edges are somewhat fragile. They are pretty susceptible to damage. I would not recommend this product unless you are NOT using the taller pocketed page protectors.

This type of album is not for everyone.

The binder makes sense, but in practice, the book is so very wide -- a good five or six inches wider than a post-bound 12x12 album, when both are lying open, flat. It's not comfortable to sit and browse through the pages, especially with a child on your lap or next to you, because of the width. Your arms will be sore within minutes.

I purchased a set of the 12x12 photo pages to use in the album. Be warned that these are taller than the page protector pages by about a half inch -- so much so that they extend slightly out of the album top and bottom. The ones I bought were for horizontal 4x6 photos. I wonder if the pages for vertical photos are a half inch wider than the regular protector pages.

I was most disappointed to see how the pages "droop" at an angle down out of the album by more than two inches at the outside corner.

It's nice to be able to personalize your album cover, but the particle board is unattractive enough that it really does *require* some finishing. (I had thought it might be attractice enough to just leave blank for a clean, modern look. But it looks cheap that way.) The albums are unfortunately made in China. Wish it were easier to find American-made albums, like those of Gallery Leather of Maine.

I wish I had been able to find one of these D-ring albums in a store so I could have seen them before purchasing and avoided the expensive return shipping to Amazon.
