I have been using this product for 3 years now and am very impressed with it. In fact, I prefer it over sterling wire, because it WILL NOT TARNISH. You must take care while working with the wire so you don't scratch off the clear finish. Use NYLON-JAW pliers while working with this wire or coat your metal tools with a rubberized finish, to prevent damaging the finish.
You can gently hammer this wire without damaging the coating, so you aren't stuck with just a round wire look.
If you take care you will get a beautifully bright silver wire piece that will never need polishing. GO FOR IT!

I've been making jewelry for several years, and went from the cheap wire found in many of the chain craft stores, to using some sterling and some Artistic Wire. I found that about 90% of the time people preferred the jewelry I make using Artistic Wire. My most popular items are my rings, which sell for $40 - $45 base price. I make my rings almost exclusively with Artistic Wire because people love the shiny silver that holds it's shine, preferring it over sterling due to the price factor, and also the fact that silver tarnishes. Artistic Wire is bright, very easy to work with, comes in a huge variety of gauges and colors, doesn't tarnish, and is strong - comparing nicely to working with a dead soft wire and holds it's shape like a hardened wire. I do use sterling balls if people want balls on an item because I find the other balls I've tried "turn", and that is not a pretty picture!
Artistic Wire is so affordable you don't shed tears if a piece doesn't work out as well as you'd hoped, or if the customer orders a custom piece, and asks for a redo it's not as painful as redoing a piece in sterling!
Beadalon makes wonderful products, and I never hesitate to purchase something if I see the Beadalon name. I know it's usually something that's reasonably priced (depending on where it's purchased of course) & will hold it's value. This particular 20-gauge Silver Plated Non-Tarnish Artistic Wire at a little over $4.50 is a great value! Most of the Artistic Wire I purchase is between $4.50 & $5.50. You just can't beat that value for inexpensive wire.
There will be times when only sterling, or another precious metal, will do. At those times you use it and appreciate the beauty of precious metal, and hopefully have a supplier who is fair in their product pricing.

This wire is very popular for wire wrapping because it is easy to work with, doesn't tarnish, and looks beautiful. Would definitely recommend if you want a high end look at a very reasonable price.

This is my all time favorite wire for just about every jewelry project! I've been designing jewelry for about 3 years now, and was absolutely thrilled to discover a bright, silver-colored wire that does NOT tarnish. The thinner gauges of silver colored wire (24 and up) are slightly brighter in color, but all gauges keep a lovely white sheen indefinitely.

The wire is somewhat soft, making it very easy to do wire wrapping. I've also found that the 20 gauge is just hard enough for making smaller jump rings (4,6, maybe 8 mm diameter) for chainmaille designs etc. Overall a very versatile wire!

As with all wires, you do have to be careful with the pliers to avoid nicks and scratches. In addition, the coating of this wire that makes it non-tarnish can start to shred off if scraped or otherwise abused multiple times. This only seems to be a problem with the heavier gauges (I noticed it with 18 gauge silver colored wire).

Finally, the packaging is very handy as you can just wind the desired amount off the spool. No mess, no frustration!

I couldn't be happier with the product and just pray that it continues to be available as I rely on this for all my jewelry now! The only drawback is that my local Michaels does not carry this product.

This wire is great, so easy to work with. Made my first pieces of wire work jewelry with it and was amazed at how easy this wire was to work. I recommend it anyone needing wire for jewelry making.

The product is just fine. It is as good as any other 20g silver plated wire. I was not so happy to walk into my local craft store a couple days after ordering to find the same product, with an extra 4 yards for a dollar less.
