My fiance bought the Gulpy for our Golden Retriever after we finally had enough with transporting messy collapsible bowls and bottles of water for her on our many jogs, hikes, and road trips. It would always end up being very messy, with dirt getting stuck to the bottom of the bowl and then having to put it back into a plastic bag to avoid dripping all over our backpack or car seat.

Since buying the Gulpy, we haven't had any of those problems. It is super portable, clean, and easy to use. Its wonderful on long hikes when our dog (Lucy) needs frequent water breaks and we simply squeeze enough water into the container to quench her thirst and toss it back into our pack or attach it to our belt. When she is running ahead, I shout to her if she wants her "Gulpy" and hold it up high and she always comes eagerly running to me with her tongue hanging out to the side and waits patiently while I fill it up for her. She LOVES her Gulpy.

Now to address some of the complaints that I have read. I have dropped the Gulpy MANY times on pavement and dirt and it has never cracked or broken in anyway, its quite sturdy actually. The only complaint I have is that I wish it held a bit more water, with a wider drinking container for the bigger dogs. Also, you may feel the need to want to tighten the cap very tightly to avoid leaking, which is a natural thought - but with this product it is not necessary to tighten it up super tight and if you do try, it sort of pops off so just know that lightly tightening it will prevent leaking just fine.

I highly recommend this product for any pet parent that takes their fur baby out on adventures, definitely worth it!!!

One thing in advance: there are three or four different links to this item on Amazon, with nearly double and more than triple the price. Due to that price, the product got rated down at the other links when customers found out that there is a cheaper option available (this one).

The price of a product should never enter into a rating score, because everybody can decide for themselves whether the features and specifications value the price in somebody's book.

My dogs had three puppies, so I bought four different types of these pet bottles from four different manufacturers, in order to compare them and find the best. Two of the bottles didn't last very long, because of an idiotic design or the materials chosen, such as a soft plastic that dogs would rather chew on than drink out. A third one leaked like hell and required assembly/disassembly.

This "Gulpy" bottle was the one-eyed among the blind. It's easier to use than the competitor products and handled heat and sea water better as well. One thing I would like to recommend the manufacturer is to offer a bigger and broader bottle for dogs with a bigger/broader mouth. Nevertheless, except for really big races, most dogs should be able to quench their thirst on a longer excursion far from clean sources of water in the outdoors.

The "Gulpy" is the best of the bunch and if it was available with a broader drinking angle in bigger sizes, it would have received half a star more.

Terrific product,... convienient and versatile.
But, the fold-out drinking vessel will readily break if dropped unto a hard surface, even from a short height. And, it cannot be repaired.
I've contacted the manufactor, New Angle Pet Products, and got no response.
They should offer replacement vessels, and redesign with a hard rubber material that will take impact,... we are talking dogs here!

I like the idea of this product, a water bottle with built in drinking bowl for the dog. However, the design is just too cheap to be a long lasting quality product. Bought this less than a year ago, and have used it about 10-12 times. Never exposed to extreme hot or cold, and never dropped. But the hinged nylon mechanism has separated and one of the 2 internal o-rings has stretched to the point where the bottle now leaks which makes it fairly unusable.

I'm going to replace the o-ring and try to get some more life out of this, but a more rigid plastic and more robust design would have gone a long way.

I think that the Gulpy is a great idea and is really easy to use. I wasn't sure how my dog would actually respond to drinking out of it because she's pretty timid about new things but she took to it very quickly. The only downside is that it's kind of small for bigger dogs. My lab had it drained in less than half an hour at the park. It might be more of a hassle to try and use it for hiking, which is what I intended to use it for, if I have to stop and refill it that often. I think the Gulpy would be more than ideal for walking on bike trails or other such shorter adventures you would take your dog with you.
