This is an exceptional mount, at a great price. I'm using it in place of the Manfrotto 482 (their mini ball head), since it's a fraction of the price, and actually even more durable than it is. I can't emphasize enough how well constructed this mount is - the black portion is actually two separate parts, which are pulled together by the black screw - both the ball head and the base can freely move which makes positioning a breeze. The threaded 1/4" camera mount looks to be removable (the center is a hex bit), and the metal ring underneath it moves up and down to lock it in place.

About my only complaint is there isn't rubber on the metal ring to protect the camera, but $0.25 and a trip to the hardware store to pick up a rubber fender washer and all is right with the world.

Overall an exceptional value for the money - after I purchased my first one, I bought two more immediately after to make sure I'd always have one handy.

Favorite mounting solution. Sturdy enough for small LED lights, webcams, and even some of the new LED projectors.

However most of mine have come with the incorrect thread pitch. It looks as though it comes with a 1/4-20 fine, then it needs a 1/4-20 coarse. I checked this and had to re-tap a few after trying to hard. Definitely make sure you have extras bolts from the store or here.
