My Christmas manger had the round hole in the back for a light, but was missing the light and cord. And this light did the trick. Stick it through the hole and the clips hold it in place. It has the switch attached on the cord. Perfect for what I wanted it for.

I don't own a Christmas village that this light is designed for. What I do have is several night lamps here and there that take the very same kind of light as this one. I also have a lot of the old style glass hurricane lamps that have a light on the bottom that works separately from the bigger lamp on top. They all have a small hole similar to the Christmas village houses for installing this kind of light as well. This light is basically just a single light on a about a 5 ft cord. What separates it from the rest as something hard to find is the little clip that comes with it that holds it in place in the hole. If all else fails, the light and the cord can be fashioned out of any of those cheap plastic candle style lights available everywhere at Christmastime. You just break it apart and extract the light and cord inside. However the clips that comes with this replacement light are impossible to find, anywhere. You either get one with one of these replacement lights or you go without. These little clips prove well the old saying that nothing is any stronger than its weakest part. Without the tension clip, the light just flops around and falls out of the hole. Anything that the light is used on finds it falling out at the slightest movement of it. In my hurricane lamps, the little clip is extra important for without it the light completely falls out the bottom and you are forced to half a** it in some fashion. They last quite a long time, but eventually the tension and heat has them breaking. Trust me when I tell you that these clips are impossible to find without getting one along with one of these replacement lights, and finding the light is either near impossible, or costs three times as much as what Amazon is asking in some fancy Christmas shop.Read more ›

Being able to purchase these separately is great. We wanted one in brown but no one seemed to carry any other color than white. Fortunately, the cord is fairly hidden. Even if it weren't, this is a clean white, so it's subtle enough. It came with a clear nightlight bulb and the on/off dial is easy enough to rotate with its grooves. It has a little too much play in it, but it still does its job in getting the light turned on or off, especially for the price.

Bought 4. 3 of them seemed to work ok. One had an intermittent connection that essentially rendered it useless. A reasonably decent and cheap way to light up Xmas and Halloween displays if the original cord has been lost or damaged.

The clips are kinda cheap and you have to be careful with them. But they will work as long as you are not overly ham-handed with them.

Basically you are getting what you pay for. Cheap price, cheap product that works ok but has some flaws.
