Let me start by saying I research everything extensively before I buy it, especially home audio. I initially thought I wanted bose acoustimass, but all the reviews were mixed. My biggest criteria was small speakers. I previously had tower Sonys and bose surround, but was ready for a more hidden look. I whittled the research down to mirage nanosats or these. I was skeptical spending $600+ without hearing them and went to the local best buy where I could listen to both. They both sound great, but the definitive sounded a bit fuller and I couldn't get used to the nanosats. Setup is a bit odd, but well worth the sound. Plenty of tight bass, but not too boomy and the mids and highs are clear and lifelike.

Fantastic sound, you won't be upset with this purchase!!

Great sound, very attractive, nice solid weight to the speakers, definitly not cheap flimsy crap!! Easy to set up although they recommend your front speakers plug into the Sub and not straight from your receiver. Nice seperation of sound, very impressed. Would buy these all over again!!

Get the floor stands, very solid and worth the $99 a pair.

All speakers come with Bannana type plugs that plug in or you can unscrew and feed wire in. I found a great deal on Amazon for gold plugs by Dayton and made my own cables with 14 guage wire, much cleaner install than straight wire.

Firstly, these are excellent speakers. They are perfect for smaller to average-sized rooms. When paired with a quality receiver, these little fellows can astonish your friends and family that come over to watch movies and sporting events. I work in the home theater industry professionally, and I tend to use the Definitive line in many of my project's for a variety of reasons.

Now, the only potential downside, is that Definitive Technology speakers scale REALLY well. Meaning when you splurge for the next package up (in this case the Pro 800/ Pro 1000) the benefits are easily realized. I often tell my customers "unless you hear the next level up side-by-side you will be thrilled with them". The sound in the smaller packages can get slightly anemic at higher frequency ranges if you're a picky audiophile. When you increase the speaker driver size (as you move up the speaker line) you will notice an increase in the the richness and warmth of the mids.

All-in-all these are great speakers, but if you can part with some extra cash, consider going to the next level up if your room is on the larger side.

I install home theater and sound systems professionally, and have done so for about 12 years. I have tried almost every brand of speaker there is, and these are top quality. They are nice and hefty for their size, because of the huge speaker on the driver, which you need for good sound.

I purchased a set of these speakers for a customer about 6 or 7 years ago, and the customer ended up changing his mind and wanting speakers mounted in wall, so I decided to use these at my own house. I liked them so much that I never even considered replacing them. They have excellent sound, and handle every bit of 125 watts whenever I've pushed them. The highs are crisp and clean, the mid range is full and warm, and the lows are perfect. I've never seen a better set of speakers this size.

I can also speak to their customer service. I had a driver go out in one of these speakers, and I called Definitive to see about getting a replacement. I expected that I would have to pay for it, but when I talked to the person on the phone, they told me they would send out the speaker for free. Like I said, the speakers are 6 or 7 years old, so I can't believe that they are sending me a new driver for free. They didn't ask any questions about where I purchased them, or ask for a copy of a receipt. They simply asked my name and address, and a couple days later, I had a new speaker.

That kind of customer service is amazing, and if I hadn't already been sold on them, that was the clincher. I am going to recommend definitive speakers to all my customers from now on. They make amazing products, and they care about their reputation. I only wish I could give them a few more stars.

First off, if you're looking at buying these you may be cross shopping this with the Bose soundtouch 520 or similar. Here's a word of advice: get this system! I paired this setup with a yamaha rx-v479bl receiver and the results are stunning. Crystal clear sound at all volumes make for an excellent experience while watching movies and listening to music. The bass is responsive and full provided you take the time to setup and fine tune your system. If you're a bass freak and need a ridiculous amount of bass, get another system. These speakers are about balance and clarity. If you're thinking of spending hundreds more on a bose system, just do some research on the quality of these speakers vs the bose and you'll come to the same conclusion as me. Enjoy!

This system sounds really good, but the reliability and customer service are past poor. I bought the system brand new, and it all performed well for two weeks, but then the sub started having issues. It wouldn't come on when the system was turned on, and I'd have to crank the volume on my receiver to get it to come on. Sometimes it will just turn off when I'm watching TV. I've messed with settings on my receiver, but the problem still exists. I've reached out to Definitive twice via email, and over the span of a month and a half, I have never heard a word. It's s shame because this system sounds really good, but given the reliability and customer service, I would never buy from them again.
